Hi,
Ken-55 provided this information in a post to an earlier question by someone else (how can I cheaply get internet for my computer while boondocking?). When I saw Ken's suggestion I immediately stopped reading and went and tried it ----- and it worked like I can't believe!...so I wanted to share the info.

If you already have a phone with a data package (and especially if you already have an unlimited data package that you are paying for...maybe for your business, etc) you can download an app for your Blackberry, Iphone or Droid and use it to provide wideband to your computer using your phone's unlimited data package!!!...and it only costs you a one time fee of $15.95. Just google pdaNet and check it out. I downloaded the Blackberry app for free, tried it out and it worked so well that I immediately went back and paid for the full-up version. Sure beats having to pay AT&T for an additional data hookup for the computer when I am already paying for an "unlimited" data package for my Blackberry. Ken-55...THANK YOU! (oh, and a big Thanks to pdanet for the app!!).

Thanks for the info and warning HobbyTalk. Hadn't seen it before. Funny how you can pay for an unlimited data plan and then they still figure out a way to get you to pay more, huh?

Is this what they mean when they talk about giving 110%?

AT&T send me the text and letter last week, free tethering is over for me. They automatically changed me from the unlimited to 4GB and went up on the price. Good while it lasted.

Just as an FYI the cell carrier's (at least Verizon's) unlimited data plans on a phone specifically exclude the use of tethering. Whether or not they pursue it or not is a risk that you need to decide upon.
