Getting ready to head south so pulled the tire pressure management sensors off the valve stems. Had one I just could not get off; bent the provided wrench. Finally magilla-gorilla'd it & the valve stem snapped off. But that's another story.

I asked myself, why did this happen? I got to looking closely at the different sensors & noticed that all the valve stems (steel) were showing corrosion (white powder) in the threads where the valve stems come in contact with the tire pressure sensors (aluminum). This is a Truck System Technologies TPM system, but I assume the sensors from all manufacturers are aluminum.

So, how do I prevent this from progressing? I have visions of trying to get one of these boogers loose at 11:00 PM on a rainy blustering night alongside an interstate. NOT a pretty picture.

Maybe a very thin coating of anti-seize compound on the valve threads would stop the corrosion. You would not want any excess that would work its way into the valve.

I would call TST and ask them. This is the first I have heard of a corrosion on TST. Alum and steel will corrode and stick together. I thought TST were made of steel.

How do you like the TST system. I am getting ready to either order it or the Hawkshead.
