News wires are reporting that Verizon Wireless is in deep discussions to buy Alltel Wireless for close to $28 Billion.

That would certainly sway the EVDO Coverage Wars well over to the Verizon side, and will probably affect the existing Sprint/Alltel roaming arrangements in some fashion.

Its still too early to know for sure what the acquisition will bring to existing and future customers of both parties, or to even speculate when changes may take place.

EVDOAlex, Please keep us posted on changes that will impact us RVers with the Verizon purchase of Alltel. The reason I went with Sprint for my wireless card for internet was it's agreement with Alltel for those more rural areas.

I have another year on my Sprint contract. When it's up, will I be able to switch to Verizon and have their wireless card work in my TopGlobal router? Or, will I have to buy another router? Frankly I want one with the option of an external Wilson type antenna (which my TopGlobal does not have.) I got the TopGlobal on the recommendation from the 3GStore.com folks due our using MAC laptops.

as for your router... lets discuss options when you are ready. new routers come out all the time. like today. just posted a review of the Cradlepoint CTR500.

we'll suggest the router that best suits your needs, whenever you are ready to consider a new EVDO device.
