I have a 2001 Fleetwood Discovery. It has a DHS surround sound system installed(factory).I have yet to find a volume control anywhere. For it to operate the radio must be on. Radio volume control has no effect. Tv volume has no effect A rocker switch is mounted under the dash to turn sur/snd off & on. This has no control either. I have the Tv switch box & DVD player and the dvd volume control has no effect either. There is no manual for this system in the coach folders. I can't stand being blasted.
Any one have an ideas ?

We have factory installed surround sound in our 2003 Fleetwood Providence, but the wires were loose and bundled in the cabinet over the driver when we purchased it last summer. We used the battery method (suggested on this forum!) to find which wire went to which speaker, and are now in the process of hooking them to a newly purchased receiver. It seems that the previous owner removed the receiver, but left the wires a mess. The receiver will control the volumn. I don't think we have a rocker switch??? But I'm going to have to look for one now!

What type of receiver are you referring to? I have the sur/snd power supply up under the left side of the dash. Coach has sat. antenna but no sat. receiver. It had been removed by the previous owner. Dvd is connected into Tv and neither Tv or Dvd controls affect the volume. Just don't know.

When the blizzard here in Michigan clears (it's currently 16 degrees!), I'll go out to the polebarn and look under the dash for the surround sound switch. I wonder if we also have one there? If so, I'm glad you told us about it before we got everything connected and then wondered why it didn't work!
As to the receiver - I'm talking about a home entertainment receiver such as you use in your stick house for your surround sound, TV, DVD, etc. We took our drawing (attached below) into Best Buy and had the TV set up expert go over it with us. He advised purchasing a Yamaha 7.1. When we purchased our Fleetwood Providence (went from a gasser Winnebago to diesel), it came with a dome satelitte, a tube TV and a DVD player - set up much as you've described, but the surround sound was not hooked up to anything and there wasn't a satelitte receiver. Since we had dish network in our stick house, we purchased a 322 dish receiver on EBay to work with the dome. That satisfied us for the summer. Our winter project is explained by the drawing. Upgrade is due mostly to hubby wanting to install a 40" LCD in the basement storage compartment, patio side.
We have benefited greatly from all the advice here on this forum, so I hope someone who is more qualified than I can help you with your questions. In the meantime, maybe this will benefit you. Thank you for the "heads up" on the toggle switch! I'll let you know if I find one!

Up date on Surround Sound System... I was informed by a Sanyo Tv cust. ser. rep there is no control via the tv volume to reduce the sound from the amplifier. It has to be fed into a receiver to raise and lower the volume. The Sur/Snd does work properly thru the radio. I didn't have that part activated. Thanks for the help.

skipwil,
I don't know if will help you, but as I installed a new LCD HD TV, in m rig (an '02 Newmar Mountaire), I found two RCA wires (a red and a white one) hanging behind the old RCA 27" TV. I hooked them into the two audio out plugs on the back of the new TV. Then my radio has to be on to fairly loud volume setting, and "AUX 2" selected on the radio.
WOW!!-- The whole system came to life and the TV volume now controls the sound output for the surrond sound and the TV-- It's wonderful!!
Cheers,

Max: Thanks -Are you referring to the vehicle radio or a 110v. radio receiver? The coach radio can control the volume.
Thanks & Safe Journeys

I'm talking about the Sony in dash, original 12v radio.
It works great. Some other members told me about this several years ago. Everything in my surround sound goes through the in dash radio- TV, XM radio, DVD.
