Has anyone used the VuQube satellite on there motorhome? Have a chance to buy one for $250. It works with Directv and Dishnetwork. I can buy a Dishnetwork reciever for $150 which then I would own all the equipment and save the monthly rental they charge for equipment. I was thinking of mounting it right where the crankup Winegaurd antennae is now. I think the height is 17inches which isn't much more than the height of my air conditioner. It can also be mounted on the ladder but that would put it all the way to the back of the motorhome.

Which Vu-Cube are you looking at. Automatic or manual. My 1000 is made to sit flat, not be mounted on the roof.
Also its a PITA to set up. Sometimes I can set it up, several times I just say to heck with it and do without if only staying for a few days.

Mostly it works OK (Vq 1000), but time it is a bear to set up. The dish is smaller and you as a result you get a lower lock signal than with a full size dish.

The VuQube 10 is the one I'm buying. If it's mounted to the roof of the motorhome it will be setting flat. They are made to be mounted on tractortrailers. They don't level there trucks, aleast a motorhome gets somewhat level so the frig works right.

If my experience is any indicator, no one should waste their time and money by buying a VuQube 1000, and then expecting to get technical support from King Controls.
The dish would receive only eight transponders of the 32 total on the 101° satellite, which is the one our DirecTV D12 receiver uses. No matter how much I "bumped" the dish, there was never any detectable signal on the other transponders, which makes me suspect the LNB is defective.
After playing with the thing for more than 15 hours, with no success, I called King Controls during their posted business hours. My only choice was to leave my name and number so someone could call me, but that never happened, as expected.
I'm now in the process of trying to return the piece of junk to the company where I purchased it, and that's not going any more smoothly.
My advice is to avoid the VuQube 1000 unless you have more time and money than you will ever use.

Strange....my VQ1000 seems to work just fine for SD, which is what I have in the RV. As Ken mentioned, its dish is physically smaller than the old single LNB dish/tripod I formerly used, so peak signal strength may be down slightly, but I'm satisfied with mine.
