Want to go with a dish

Tired pulling out the tripod and setting it up I want to remove my regular antenna and mount a dish on the mast so I can raise it and rotate it. Is this possible, I was thinking I might have to shorten the mast. I figured someone has done this and if they were successful or failed.

If you are talking SAT dish...the Batwing TV antenna base will not support the demands of controlling elevation. Plus, I would bet a SAT dish is too heavy to mount on the Sensar's mast.

The simplest rooftop SAT antenna is the Winegard "crank-up" see:
Winegard Crank-Up Satellite TV TV Antennas
These are DirecTV or Dish compliant for 1 bird at a time. And they can cover a Batwing sized hole in your roof. But please notice, they are manual set-up. The RM-DM46 and 61's are optioned with an elevation gauge...gets you halfway to lock.

Best luck

As Steve says, you would not get stability from the batwing frame. As you should know from your tripod use, you are aiming at a transmitter the size of a bus that is 22,000 miles away. The slightest breeze would bounce the batwing frame around far too much to make a dish work. Just replace it with the unit mentioned by Steve.
