The water beads on our satellite dome during wet weather which results in a disruption of the satellite signal. Does anyone have a "fix" to prevent this beading. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Rain-X worked for me but didn't seem to last very long. I just cleaned the dome well and applied two apps of Rain-X again. Hopefully we won't see any rain here in the desert.

DipHop..we had the same problem. I could not count on seeing TV programs..or even listening to XM radio from DirecTV because of even a little bit of dew on the dome.
Nothing seemed to really work - including the product that the Dome Companies recommended and peddled under their brand names...Here was our solution....
We have not regretted it!

That solution would fix the problem - I was looking for a fix that was a little cheaper ;-). Thanks for the reply.

If you want HD from direcTV I would just use a tripod and 5LNB slimline. I know its a pain but I have the in-motion which works good but since direcTV switched to 5 LNB it won't get HD.

I gave up on my Kingdome. I replaced it with a Winegard SK3005 and have been very happy with my decision.
BTW anyone want a Kingdome really cheap?

DipHop,
As you can see, the answers are going to trend away from there being a solution to your problem. All domes suffer badly from rain fade and there is not a lot you can do about it other than move to the SW (not much rain there)!
King Dome makes a very expensive spray that you can apply to your dome that they claim will help reduce the effects of rain fade. You have to apply it pretty often so it's still likely not the best solution. Rain-x can work on some domes but if you read the instructions is states not to use this on plastic and some manufacturers claim that it can damage the dome. There are a number of home remedies including dish washing liquid and multiple coats of automotive wax but none work for long and none "solve" the problem.

I use a product called RejeX. Rejexs works on all kinds of surfaces. Rejex is the only product I could find that works for water beading on the dome. I find it last three to six months. I found rejex at boeing airport in seattle wa. You can go on the web to rejex.com

Wetdog:
Thanks for the tip. The RejeX website states that participating True Value stores carry this product. Thanks again for the information.

I use Rain-X on my KVH dome. Helps quite a bit but does not eliminate the problem, of course. It has not caused a problem with the plastic dome.

Hi MM, Does that MotoSat HD antenna work with Direct? No problem with the rain? That sounds great. I have tried everything but nothing works with my KVH in the rain.

We have DirecTv and it works great! This is a great investment if you are a TV fan or enjoy listening to the music on DirecTV!
By the way.. I believe our Dome clearly stated NOT to use Rain-x on it. We tried many things -including Rain-X ...and nothing worked either.

Both MotoSAT and Winegard make the HD dishes and they both have models that will work with Dish or Direct (as well as Bell Express Vu and Shaw Direct, formerly Star Choice).
We have had a dome of some kind on our coach since 2000 and recently replaced it with the Trav'ler SK-3005 for DirecTV. Since we really never watched TV going down the road with the dome, the ability to watch TV even during a moderate rain has been a real plus.
