I have the new channel line up in front of me and I don't see The Weather Channel anywhere. The regional traffic/weather channels go from 132-140 but they only cover major metropolitan cities from East cost 132 Boston/Philadelphia/Pittsburgh, to West 140 Los Angeles.

Thanks for the quick responses. I wanted to make sure I had not missed anything. We are headed into Tornado country. I guess it is time for the in motion Sat TV to earn its' keep.

Why not buy a Midland Weather Monitor. It's 120 volt, so can be operated either when the motor home generator is running, or easier yet, purchase a small inverter that plugs into your 12 volt cigarette lighter and leave it on 24/7. The Midland can be programed to pick up any NOAA station in your area (normally about a 30 mile range) and also sound a weather alert. Price is around $30.00.

Sirius/XM dropped national weather for the U.S. National weather for Canada is still available on channel 162. Weather is now incorporated into the travel information channels for major U.S. cities.

We have the Midland handheld with the same features as Roy described. It is the size of a walkie-talkie and comes with a charging stand. We leave it plugged in all the time; while we drive the inverter keeps it charged. The other night in Texas it proved that it can wake us up when an alert is received. We bought ours from Amazom:

Amazon.com: Midland HH54VP2 Portable Emergency Weather Radio with SAME (Black): Electronics

The ones I have are a Midland small white 8" X 8" desktop with a telescoping antenna. I bought mine in a Publix supermarket, but have seen them in Radio Shack, Walmart, etc. They should be easy to find. I think cost is still around $30.00. I have one in my bedroom at home, with the warning set for just the county I live in, and the one in the travel trailer is set to broadcast if there is an alert anywhere in the listening area. The other nice thing is that you can press the spacebar and it will broadcast the regular 24 hour NOAA weather report where ever you may be. I use that function often in the travel trailer when camping in the mountains to see if it is going to freeze that night and I have to unhook my water hose..........Everyone should have one.

I've had several weather radios and this one is by far the best one I have ever seen. This radio alerts when my Radio Shack model remains silent.

It's $80 at Amazon.com but temporarily out of stock. The $170 price is from an Amazon vendor if you can't wait. See More Buying Choices on the right of the web page.

The weather channel was one of the first things dropped after the merger.

For those suggesting a weather radio, I have one and use it when at the stick house. I do not feel it would be of value when traveling. Weather radio requires the listener to know where they are. The broadcasts use local city and county information. When motoring down the road, I know the general area I am in, but there is no way I could use NOAA weather information as I travel.

The Weather Channel has the information I need. I will depend on it via the TV and or their Internet site.
