Weboost

We are adding Dish to our RV. The installer said if we got a WeBoost our internet troubles would be over. We’ll have almost high speed internet everywhere we go. He said it’s what truckers. Anyone have experience with that? We have a WiFi Ranger so far has not worked as well as advertised.

I installed a Weboost Drive Reach recently in my truck. I also bought the OTR antenna and installed that on my Arctic Fox 22G roof. I used this adapter to connect the Weboost OTR antenna to the Drive Reach amplifier. It was $7.99 for a pair of the adapters.

We took a 7 night trip recently. At one location our Verizon JetPack went from 1 to 4 bars and we had excellent Internet data. We had no ATT services but were able to do Wifi voice calls via the Verizon data link. The 2nd location we had no Verizon service with or without the Weboost. Our ATT phones went from 1 bar to 4 bars. The Internet on the ATT phones was variable but I was able to get email and download an app on the phone. Phone calls worked fine on the ATT phones.

I move the Weboost amplifier and internal antenna to the truck when driving and back to the trailer when camping. I am happy with our purchase.

The Weboost Drive Reach comes with a rooftop magnetic antenna that requires a metal roof to act as the ground plane. The OTR antenna will work on an RV roof without requiring the metal roof for the ground plane.

We have a Weboost 4G-X Drive RV Cellular Booster. To say that with a Weboost you will have high speed internet everywhere you go is not all together true because there are some factors like cell tower congestion or just the total lack of any cell signal at all that are going to effect your being able to have any internet and your speed. That being said our Weboost has been very useful when there is a weak cell signal even as low as 1X on boosting the signal up to 4G-lte 2 to 3 bars and has enabled us to make phone calls and stream internet where we otherwise could not do it. If you are using a mobile hotspot with antenna ports, sometimes a Mimo antennae can improve your internet download speed if you already have a moderately decent cell signal where the Weboost may not show an improvement.

Long story, but need suggestions. I just received a Drive 4g-X RV when I thought I was ordering the Drive X RV, I didn't pay enough attention I guess. My question, the 4G-X has a shorter cable that will not work for me. Weboost support was no help at all. I need to extend the cable for the outside antenna. Has anyone done this and did it degrade the signal? My first thought was to just purchase a longer cable but Weboost uses a cable with different connectors on each end. Looking for ideas. We will be in the eastern sierras in october with week cell signals and I would like to have cells phones in case of an emergency. My wife can't drive the MH or the Jeep with manual trans.

Adding longer cable and splices will reduce signal strength. But some gain is likely better than nothing. I used an existing RG6 coax on the roof with mine. You can find the proper adapter. Weboost tech support said they sell them, but I got mine on Amazon. But as expected tech support recommended using what they provide, but you can use other cable but you are on your own.

The boost I get often means the difference between having usable service and no service. But it can't create a signal where one simply does not exist, and out west there are places with no signal to boost. It was worth the money but is not a cure-all.

Thank you Jim, Weboost didn't even offer to sell me the longer cable or any adapters. I just got back from Camping World and returned it. The young lady that handled the return was very helpful. I'll order the newer model with the longer cable and OTR antenna.

I assume you understand that your WiFiRanger and a WeBoost have essentially nothing in common. The WiFiRanger amplifies wifi signals that you receive from park wifi or other sources. A WeBoost will amplify cellular signals. They are totally different.

If you've been disappointed with your WiFiRanger we'd be glad to talk about why you feel that way and maybe we can offer some assistance. But the Ranger isn't designed to do the same job as the WeBoost.

As for a WeBoost allowing you to have high speed internet wherever you go, that's a bit of an exaggeration. First of all, you need to have a truly unlimited cellular plan or you're going to run out of data before you know it. Furthermore, even the best carriers don't have good high speed coverage over the entirety of the US. A WeBoost can't amplify signals if there are none there.

Are there setups that will boost both wifi (Mobley/Netgear Unite Explore) and cell (Verizon)?

WeBoost simply amplifies a cell signal, it’s not device specific. There are requirements (FCC as I recall) to “register” a WeBoost with your carrier(s).
