Weird problem with my new laptop.
I am finding it strange that my laptop HP windoze 10 only plays about half the videos I see posted. On about 50% it jumps right in and plays full content and on the remaining 59% I get a message about "this browser doesn't recognize the content" or some such and I find that annoying. Is there a way to fix this that is easy and free?

Browser being used, and video source(s) and or types. Are the videos from the same source, such as Youtube?
Try Googles Chrome browser if your using MS's IE or Edge.
Post a link to a video that does not work.

Do you have the latest Adobe Flash Player installed? There were some security issues with older versions. Firefox had it blocked until there was a safe add on.
I agree, try Chrome or Firefox instead of Microsoft browsers. They can always be uninstalled if you don't like them.

I quit using the Microsoft Edge as it was doing the same thing.
I now use Chrome and it doesn't seem to have nearly as much trouble.
Either way you may want to check your browser setting and see the level of security you have it set at and also check to make sure any of the video players you may be using are enabled.

Another problem I encountered with 10 is PDFs opened in Edge. I really didn't want to view them in a browser so I had to go into settings and change the default to Adobe reader.
When I upgraded the 10 install had some kind of problem with my touch pad and wireless mouse so tab & enter were about all I had to work with so I could not change a lot of the defaults to what I wanted.
Can't really see anything special about Edge. 10 isn't that much better than 7 was either.

As others have said, it's probably that the browser you're using has Adobe Flash disabled.
Flash has been identified as a way that evil things can be delivered to your computer, so many browsers have opted to disable it. You can probably solve the issue by using a different browser. My normal browser has Flash disabled, but if I run across something that I really want to see then I use a browser that has it enabled.

Thanks everyone the problem has been resolved with your help. I too dislike edge or internet exploder so I opted to run Firefox and yes it did have the Flash option disabled. I rectified that and all seems to be working as planned.
