Only a 2% difference. Now they come up with the 30% number based on price of the two batteries. Still there is no dispute that the eneloops can be recharged 2100 times versus the energizer 1000 times, and the fact that the energizer looses much more of its capacity while in storage.
I'll stick by eneloops as the superior battery.....they have proven themselves over many years of my use.

One of my past jobs was wedding photography. I found that the Energizer batteries would last longer in my flash units.

If you wanted more capacity, they make a "pro" version with 2550 mAh

Surprised no one mentioned lithium AA batteries.... I don't spend the money on these for every device, however they are the best for some applications. Any device exposed to cold temperatures for example will work better with lithium.....I use them in remote temperature transmitters in cold winter conditions. They hold power for 20 years while in storage !
High drain devices like photo flashes, etc would also benefit. Since they are so stable in storage, you can stock up when you find a good sale and keep them awhile.

We have great results using Energizer re-chargeable's in some heavy use items like my LED headlamps, flashlights. I proactively rotate them in sets.
Our best dollar value for disposables seems to be the Costco "Kirkland" batteries.
Best wishes.

Aldi grocery stores sell an 8 pack of AA or AAA alkaline batteries for $1.99. I have no idea how they compare to name brand ones, but they have worked well for me.
Someone mentioned Harbor Freight batteries. Keep in mind that virtually all batteries that are labelled "Heavy Duty" are carbon-zinc and are a total waste.

Has anyone tried the Amazon regular batteries? They seem to have good reviews.
Thanx for all the suggestions. The OP was meant to be for throwaways not rechargeable. Lots of good rechargeable info for others who may use them.

Between Duracell and Energizer the latter wins hands down. I use the Energizer Lithium batteries in my fridge temp sensors due to the cold temps. I also use the Energizers in my TPMS sensors.
I buy all of my Energizers on Amazon and sometimes Sam's Club when they have them on sale.

You guys here may not like Duracell, but they are industry standard in health-care facilities, and we can't have anything but the best for medical equipment. That's also all we've ever used at home.

I can show you how good they are with a destroyed thermostat, dvd remote, outdoor therm and a water heater timer. All with Duracells that had dates 5-7 out and leaked so bad the devices were junk. All since Jan.

X2 never had anything damaged until they changed chemical composition to make them landfill disposable. When I found the first damaged component I though we had gone back to the fifty's and sixties.

I've completely given up using Duracell and Energizer batteries and use either Ray-O-Vac or Panasonic. The former two are so-called 'premium' batteries and cost too much for the chances of failed gadgets from drool as well as the poor life expectancy. The two latter two brands - so far have never had a problem with drool though occasionally have had an early failure, but that's rare. A for instance - I just changed out the S&B 2nd floor thermostat Ray-O-Vac batteries that had been forgotten. I had marked the date on them as August 2015. These still measured 1.5 VDC vs 1.5 for the new ones. Then there was the CO monitor that - gulp - I had scribbled a 2013 date on them and they were still operational. Yeah, my dumb, but it is what it is and yes, normally these all get changed at more often - at least yearly. I can't justify AA/AAA rechargeables for anything but a heavily used flashlight based on any cost to benefit.

I buy most of my AA & AAA batteries at Ikea. They last as long as any of the Duracell or Energizer cells that I "rescue" from some of the freelance work I do on TV remotes. I also use their 9v & C cells.
