I've been looking into this and the thread seems to have some inconsistent information that I'm hoping someone can clear up.

Let's say, for example, I start the Pay As You Go on a Friday, the first. I pay for an entire month in advance. Then on Monday, I tell them to turn it off. One person suggested that there are 26 days on account; someone else suggested that the system stays on the entire month. Which is correct?

I chatted with a Dish agent who suggested the first is correct; that is, I could theoretically use my 30 days for 15 two-day weekends only. But I honestly don't believe it.

Thanks.

The DISH agent is correct, you can start and stop the service whenever you want. To stop the service you MUST say that you want to DISCONNECT or CANCEL your service. DO NOT use the terms pause, stop, or suspend. When you DISCONNECT/ CANCEL your service the unused balance remains in your account as a credit till you restart your service. The only way you can do this is by calling them to request the cancellation. They will transfer you to a retention specialist who will try and convince you to pause the service instead, at a $5 monthly fee after your prepaid month expires, do not fall for this ploy insist on CANCEL. Now when you go to restart your service you will have to pay the difference between your credit balance and a full prepaid month charges, so you are only paying for the amount of service you used previously.

lllkrob,

Do you know if you can pay with other than a credit card? How is this handled? I prefer not to fall into the trap where they have my card. Did this with XM radio and ended up cancelling the card to get away from them.

Couple of more thoughts about Dish Pay as You Go
1. Also agree the Dish agent is correct, been using the cancel system for several years, for as short as 2 days or for as long as 3 weeks. Works great for tailgating when the event is not broadcast OTA by local station.
2.When you cancel service you will be transferred to a specialist. Just tell them this is a RV account and not a vacation home. Pause is not appropriate you want to cancel service and leave the credit on your account.
3.You can pay by deduction from your checking account, credit card or BitCon. If you are not comfortable with the credit card, suggest you pay for a say 1.5 months and then when you cancel you can still have a full months credit on your account and you can restore service online or by a phone call. If you exceed your credit Dish will bill you. Then over pay the bill and start the process over. Hope this helps.

Yes, this is how we have done it for the last 4 years.

Also, we have our account flagged for US service only. We found that our account gets really messed up when an overseas rep touches it. They don't seem to know what an RV is. To do that we simply requested the rep in Denver to flag our account. Seems to work most of the time.
