What is your internet speed?

I just got a Verizon model 890L-73CA MiFi unit and I am amazed at the download speed I am getting! It is running between 20Mps to 30Mps, depending on where I am! I am only getting 5.5 Mps on my standard cable internet at home. I checked the speed on "speedtest.net". It is costing me $50 per month for 4 Gb of data. The MiFi unit was only $19.95 after a $50 rebate, with a 2-year contract. How does this compare with yours?

I have the same one paid for through my employer. The speed depends on where you are, and if there is service. At my house there is no service, so it does me no good, VZW had to supply a Network Extender for me to use my Company Phone. While in New York, depending on where I was in town, the speed was anywhere from crawling at 86kbs, to 17 megs. It all depends on where you are.

Dont even bother with the landline type program. Strictly the mobile and a mifi.
Also every program personally worth the time, one can pick up via the internet. Result is I do not go with cable type systems. :0)

Call Verizon for hardware and services if you want whats been shown for the best coverage in the USA. They are referring to Verizon MiFi's and Verizon JetPacs (called wireless hotspots) running on 4G LTE Network cell towers. As stated earlier the speed vs location will vary greatly depending on 4g lte vs 4g vs 3g and lower coverage areas.

"Past performance is no guarantee of todays or tomorrows speed" - had to clause it out.

We can only get 3G at our house and at 99% of the places we travel in the USA. The 3G/4G modems will drop connections repeatedly as they try to find a 4G connection and drop the active 3G connection. The telcos are out to make the most money and not to provide the best possible service so they will continue to concentrate their towers in the areas with the highest population densities which is not where we choose to live or to travel.

For email and general browsing we do not need 4G and the 10GB data cap is too low to make it practical for downloading movies even if we could establish a connection.
