What satellite dish do I have?

Bought a 2013 used MH with 8400 miles from an RV outlet store. Apparently the previous owner had satellite TV service but receiver was removed. I have no idea which satellite service they subscribed to and the RV store did not know as well. I have tried to connect my DISH NETWORK receiver but automatic satellite on roof cannot seem to find sat signals. How do I know if the dish on the roof is for DIRECTV or DISH Network?

many of them can be set to use either via dip switch settings. If you google your specific make/model it will tell you and also the switch settings and where it is located. When I got my coach, it had been set to direct TV, simply changed the dip switches for Dish and has worked perfectly since.

I would do a google search for an owners manual for your dish using the dish brand and model #

First of all do you have a dome ?
if it is a dome type dish and it is a winegard you can go up on the roof and take the dome off and set the dip switches for whichever service you have. Winegard has the switch settings on their website. By the way if you watch much tv I consider the dome dish totally useless.

If however you have something that looks like the antenna on the side of a house and it is a winegard antenna that might be a traveler and those are what everyone that watches much tv needs. A traveler should have a control box for it in the coach and will have direct or dish painted on the dish. Depends on your service and which one you have you cannot interchange services between dish and direct with winegard traveler. I belive there is a kit that will let you do it but it is in the 300.00 range from what I have heard and it will not let you put the proper dish for directv HD on a dish platform.

It's a dome Winegard. I'll research the dip switches. Last time I converted a dome on my 5th, I had to rent a programming device from King Dome to change from Direct to Dish. No dip switches in that situation.

I have a new DISH receiver but having problems seeing sat signals for receiver to zero in to. May be trees blocking. I plan to take the MH down to the beach for a few days where the so. sky is accessible.
