which Aftermarket Home theater receiver to go with?

My coach has a Sony 5.1 home theater surround sound Receiver in it with the built in 5 disc changer to play DVD's and Music CD's. When I turn it up , anything past 20 (and down) it shuts off and throws a code.

So I'm looking to replace it with a more modern unit with NO DVD/CD player. I already bought a Sony DVD stand alone player with built in WiFi.

I'm definitely wanting something that has HDMI inputs and outputs. Along with a 5.1 surround processor. I am running a separate Subwoofer but no center channel. And the thinner the better to fit in the space above the drivers area and allow good air flow.
I listen to my movies Loud so good power is a must.

What model number and brands are you guys running?

I recommend a Marantz NR1504 AV receiver. I used a similar model in my RV system.

The receiver is about 4 inches tall and has 6 HDMI inputs.

I would also suggest NOT using your RV speakers. Instead, use a sound bar or install a 5.1 set of bookshelf speakers.

I favor the Denon line. They have always been known for quality products!

If $400 is 2 X what you want to spend I would look at used, I,would expect $400 is a entry level until fir surround sound, for $100-$300 on up you can get a entry level stereo receiver however for surround sound $400 is cheap

Marantz does make quality stuff, I would say one of the better lines in your budget. I have always been a Denon fan, actually still have one of their receiver which I purchased in 1991. Yamaha and Sony are also solid

My present HT receiver is from Integra, it's Onkyo's higher end line and I would stay away from those companies. I have had 4 units fail on my, every time it's been replaced free of charge however for a receiver costing $3,000 this shouldn't happen after a year of use.

Here's a nice receiver at a very reasonable price!
