Which Satellite??

Close I can get a inmotion Kingdome installed, or I can drive to campingworld and get a Winngard inmotion installed. Both about the same price. Is either sat worth the install???
Oh yeah it will be for Direct TV
Thanks in advance
Brian

IMHO I wouldn't have a satellite system if it couldn't receive HD and neither of these can receive HD for DirecTV. Furthermore, I wouldn't have a system unless I could use a DVR to record at least one channel while watching another. With my new DirecTV Genie I can record up to four programs while watching a fifth. The only systems that can do that have multiple LNB's and required open dishes in order to receive both the Ku and Ka band programming broadcase by DTV.

I don't know your circumstances as to why you feel you must have in-motion capability, but many RVers rely on material recorded on their DVRs if they insist on having video capability while they drive. The only people we've ever had onboard who cared about video while traveling were grandchildren and these days they seem to prefer internet access while enroute so they can play games on their iPads.

Send a message via Skype™ to Barbara S.
Also a note, anything you have permanently installed on your RV can be blocked by trees if you are in a shaded campsite. I use a VuQube for my DirecTV.

I have the Winegard Traveller, use a DirecTV DVR with HD. The system works flawlessly and replaced a Kingdome which was a nightmare for many years. I don't spend much time in the trees but suspect they could be a problem. That said, TV is not that big a deal to me if, now and then, I happen to park near a tree and must read a good book for a day or two.

While we don't have it yet when we go full timing we WILL be replacing our King Dome with the Winegard Traveller. One reason the traverl has a much larger antenna area and is effected by rain a LOT less then the other two. Yes a mounted dome might get blocked by trees now and then that is why we carry the Tailgater dish so we can off set it and receiver a signal when the mounted dish is blocked.

Rvjimzhr, would you mind if I ask you why you wouldn't have a King-Dome. Positive or negative comments please. I have an old KVH stationery receiver that I've been using. But I have grandchildren who travel a lot with me so I thought I would upgrade. I have found the King-Dome 3000 in-motion receiver which works with Dish Network HD and I have the DVR also. What do you think. I have ask around IRV2 website for comments and got no response. I would appreciateyour comments. Thanks

Donwat....I'll try and make this brief. First, I know nothing about the Kingdome 3000 in-motion unit. My experience was with a stationary unit, I think a 9702 (not positive and I gave away all literature with the unit). It was temperamental..sometimes it worked the way it should and other times it didn't. I kept reams of notes on what to do when it "does this". The times it didn't work, the messages I'd get were inconsistent sow what worked last time wasn't what would work this time. To King Control's credit they always returned my calls in a timely manner and seemed to want to help. That said, they often had no solution and truly seemed at a loss themselves. It became really more trouble than it was worth to try and get it to work. On a post recently I mentioned what was really the 'final straw' where King tech support told me I'd need to find a service center because they just could not help me. The closest center was hundreds of miles away and I was parked for the winter. I took the cover off, tinkered around and ended up with TV working. I heard about the Winegard, got one, gave the Kingdome away just to have it gone and have been happy ever since! Why would I even consider another Kingdome?? Does that answer your question?

We have Kingdome ... but use it sparingly. Wanted local channels (news and weather) when on-the-road and satellite didn't help much. We added the ClearStream Micron and get local HD now for free! Check it out! \ken
