I have an 05 coachmen class c.we plan to keep this another year or two, maybe longer.Currently we use cable at the rv park but would like the dependability of having our own should we decide to use more state parks. Our question is would we be good with a crank antennae roof mounted, with a bat wing, which we were told should give excellent reception,or go with a poratable pay as you go dish and portable antennae.

Kind of depends on how much TV you want to have and where you camp. I only have an antenna. At some state parks I can get a few stations, some a lot, and some none at all. Just depends on how far you are from the broadcast station, terrain, and surrounding trees. I've also seen guy's pulling their hair out (what was left of it) trying to get a signal between 50ft pine trees.
You will most likely still want the antenna for local stations in the area and the bat wing will help. How much is a guess.
I assume you have a digital TV in your 05 mh. If not to use an antenna you will need to either upgrade your TV or locate a converter box.

If you are talking about satellite television for your coach and you only plan on keeping the coach for another year or so I would go with the portable Winegard satellite dish. That way if you get a new RV you can take it with you.
We have Dish Network at home so I don't know about the Dish pay as you go system.

Too many considerations for me to advise but I can give you a laundry list of questions:
First: Just how important is TV in your life, If I believe the Comcast/DirecTV/Dish network ads you just can not live without HBO and Cinimax and Turner Movie Channel and so on and so forth.... (I live quite well without those) But if those "Cable/Satellite" channels are important to you that limts your choice right quick.
Second. Where are you going to be parking.. I have 2 places I've parked that offered Cable TV, one was and still is free, the other a buck a day. (Was free)
Finally, How is over the air where you are parking.. Where I am at I have a problem with a couple of networks. Depending on the exact site I'm parked on.
At the other park I summer at.. I'm getting skilled at antenna pointing (Got 'em all)
At our "Winter quarters" (3 parks and a couple of parking lots) No tribble at all, I get all networks, some multiple times. More TV than I can watch.
When I last visited Quartsite AZ I got.... Satellite TV cause over the air was..NOT.

If you go satellite yo will not get the local channels once you venture very far from your home due to the spot beam. You will still need an off air to get the local channels if you are close enough to pick them up.
