My coach was built with DTV ordered, I then learned that DTV did not allow you to suspend the plan so I had the system changed out to Dish. Yeah, that cost a 1-2 year sub to changeover but right now with good a good cellular setup and OTA I just don't watch much TV. I prefer YouTube and Netflix these days so I allowed Dish to stop at the end of the last paid cycle and haven't used it in months. I'd rather read or watch YouTube / Netflix. The only "cable" channels I really watch are Discovery, GAC, Smithsonian.

I also have slingbox at my S&B so I can actually just watch my home Verizon FIOS lineup with a half decent Internet connection which with my Pepwave MAX BR1 MK2 and panorama antenna setup it's been working great. (No more WiFi Ranger or Weboost for me).

Like most, I've had both Dish and Directv. Left Directv because I got really tired of being lied to by several different customer service people. I found Dish customer service to be a 100% improvement, but when my 2-year contract was up, I decided it wasn't worth the monthly charge in relation to how little I was actually watching TV.

i have only had direct tv so i can't compare. we have it both in the trailer and at home. the dealer offered to install a travell'r antenna for free as part of the install and we selected direct tv then. absolutely horrendous experience with them trying to get the equipment installed and activated for the trailer. we ended up using an independent rv satellite company that did great. we then bought a new home that had a direct tv antenna already installed. ever since them we just move the equipment back and forth between the house and trailer and i never call customer service. i don't worry about calling them to get local stations when we are out of our home area.

Actually right now you cannot get HBO on Dish. Since HBO as acquired by ATT who also has Direct it seems to be a marketing ploy. Dish May or may not be able to get HBO back. Caused me (Dish customer) to look for another way. I acquired a Mobley with unlimited data and signed up for HBOnow. Now will be able to get my GofT fix satisfied when it returns[emoji12]

Dish has frewer channels available and if your a sports addic then you may not like it.
We have had Direct for years, and would switch if Dish offered some of our preferred programing.
Direct customer service is like other ATT offerings, HORRIBLE.

Why watch TV?

Talking Heads that sound like experts in Sports, Politics, Weather, and Social Situations.

Biased Newscasters (one Political side or the other).

Commercials that insult your intelligence during 1/3 of the programming time.

Rent movies if you can find some that are entertaining......

Grump I am!

Actually, it is true. I looked up the Dish channel line up & they don't have HBO, Showtime, & Cinemax.

I'm a Directv customer & am having a Trav'ler installed on my rig (dropped it off yesterday). I have a couple H25 receivers, at home, so it's a no brainer, for me. I'll just take the boxes with us, when we camp. OTA stuff isn't that great in the SoCal campgrounds we go to.

As for customer service, ATT is known for the WORST customer service & it looks like they've carried that over to DTV. I don't call them unless it's absolutely necessary. The plus side is I only have to call for new equipment or replacement equipment.

Exactly. Just carry two of the old SD receivers out to the MH and plug them into the OEM MotoSat HD disk and I'm good to go. I did gave to replace the old MotoSat controller when Direct made a change. Bought an Eagle 1 from RF Mogul. If the Moto Sat quits I can buy a RF Mogul top end abd be ready to go.
