Why do you like Dish or Directv
I may be beating a dead horse here but I'm at the decision point of an antenna / provider purchase. I've heard a lot from folks who switched because the other provider just frustrated them to death, but that doesn't tell me why the other is better. I've had both (in my home) and left both due to unhappy customer service, so that's a draw. If you have Dish can you tell me why you like it better and if you have Directv, why is it better? After this I promise not to ask anymore questions about Satellite Service... if necessary I'll buy a BLueRay player and $1000 worth of movies and be happy.

We had DirecTV for several years and had no issues with it other than a few reception problems. I switched to Dish to be able to get HD programming with a dome antenna. I've been very happy with Dish and it's super easy to change local programming areas via their chat. I understand DirecTV is now limiting area changes or charging a high fee to do so, but that's just hearsay evidence. We have both the Hopper 3 system in our home and two Wallies for on the road.

It's kinda like, "why do you like a Chevrolet better than a Ford".

Bob, it that because Dish is lower in the sky? I've heard that, but is it actually significantly different?

You have answered your question except save some money for cell service and Netflix.

Just dropped DTV and switched to Dish.....mostly due to incentives ended, and ATT wouldn't negotiate another satisfactory deal for us. No issues with DTV other than that.
Have to play the switch game every 4 years or so to keep costs down.

I have DTV for the 4K which gives great quality on our uhdtv's
Dish was higher for the 4 locations and we get more if the Channels we like with dtv pkg
Tuscany was DT swm but we had dish and dtv already at two houses so could have changed the Tuscany
If you go dtv, look into the extra package
They both like to mess with you after the initial deal to get you aboard
I don't hav a contract so can easily change

Absolutely not true. Both carriers have the premium channels at extra cost.
