Sorry! My wife said she thinks she got the app for her i-phone on line from cydia.com. Go there on your phone and follow the directions. She said she had to "jailbreak" her phne first. On my Android, I just through the app search feature and installed it; didn't have to jailbreak anything, but her works fine.
Best of luck and sorry about the wrong info.

Despite the fact that your phone has an unlimited data plan are you sure that Verizon is offering you unlimited data once you switch to hot spot usage? It is my understanding that only a small number of Verizon customers were able to get this grandfathered provision. I have it on my Samsung Droid Charge because I bought the phone prior to 1/1/2012. If you have it, be very happy!!

My phone has unlimited data, so it works for us...we could have used their Mobile Hotspot device...but it would have changed our plan and actually have cost us more $$. So we'll call Verizon just before we take off next week, and test it out! As far as our satellite working in a forested area...yes, we've had that problem before...too many trees, no signal. We have a pretty open site this time, and its close to civilization, so hopefully it will work. NOT that we have to be tied to internet and TV while we're gone..but it does make the long evenings a little more enjoyable, and its nice to know we have it if we need it .
Thanks!

Hi Carol .. don't sign up for and pay the $20/mo fee just to add a wifi hotspot to your Verizon Phone. Search the Google Play store for an application called PDANet. You'll pay a one time fee for PDANet and The FoxFi wifi app, but it's well worth the price.
Both I and the DW have Verizon Android Phones - with the no longer available unlimited data plan - and we both have PDANet/FoxFi on our phones. Getting our laptops on the internet is as easy as launching the FoxFi application and waiting a minute for the connection to come alive. Before the FoxFi add-on became available we used just the PDANet app and connected to each of our laptops with a USB cable.
With this app we can run both our laptops, connect to our Slingboxes at home (to watch cable TV from home over our phones) and also connect our Vonage router to the internet so we have our "home" phone with us in addition to our Verizon Cell Phones.
We've had good connections on both 3G and 4G ... although certainly 4G connections are much better.
We spent 4 days at Pocono Raceway in June, we both used our phones for 4G Internet connections over PDANet/FoxFi and racked up about 30GB of usage between the two of us! We don't have a satellite on the motorhome yet and instead watch our TV's at home using an internet connection (FoxFi in this case) that connects to our SlingBoxes at home. If you're not familiar with a SlingBox ... it's a device that sits between your cable box and your TV and uses your home internet connection to stream the cable box output to *any* remote device. We both have a slingbox at home and can watch (and control) our cable boxes from anywhere we can get an internet connection ... including right on our Android Phones, streamed to our laptops or even on the TV's in our motorhome!
You can buy a PDANet License with FoxFi for a one-time $15.95 charge direct from June Fabrics at http://junefabrics.com/android/

If you really want a GREAT wifi setup for your motorhome, add the PDANet application to your Android Phone and purchase a WiFi Ranger setup for your RV https://www.wifiranger.com/solutions/rv-wifi
We have a WiFi Ranger modem in the motorhome and the WFR Boost module installed our our batwing antenna.
This setup allows us to connect to:
- campground or other wireless networks up to a mile away OR
- uses our PDANet/FoxFi Connection
All we need with this setup is an open wireless/WiFi connection and we can get all of our devices online on a unified/shared network - wifi printer, 3 computers, vonage modem.
The WiFi Ranger modem uses either a hard wired connection or a WiFi Connection as it's "uplink" to the internet and then creates its own local WiFi network for all your devices.
We used this setup for nearly a year of on/off travel and were always able to have a good connection for our computers.
While you don't need the WiFi Ranger to get all your devices online with PDANet/FoxFi (FoxFi creates its own WiFi Network) ... it's nice when you're camping at a site with internet that's included and can use that internet instead of your phone ... it's all about options.

Here's our WiFi Ranger installed in space gained by taking out our Tube TV and installing an LCD. Our Vonage Router get's velcro'd right next to it when we travel
And here's the WFR Boost module that let's us connect to WiFi networks far, far away from the motorhome. Yes, to connect the networks need to be open, or you need to know the password, but if you're in a campground with limited WiFi, the WFR Boost will almost always be able to connect and give you a decent signal.

I've been following this post hoping to see the "FREE" app for iPhone WiFi hotspot. The links previously posted for PDA Net and Cydia.com appear dead. Besides, I can't remember how to get this forum to notify me of a particular thread addition unless I make an entry. That, is the primry purpose of this post, just to follow along.
Thx

Yes I don't think that PDANet is available for the iPhone unless you have rooted it. You have to jailbreak your iPhone, install the Cydia App Store and then you can download PDANet ... just another reason that I prefer an Android Phone over Apple products.

Hello,
As you can see from my Sig, I am waiting for my RV. I have never owned a RV before, so my question is.....How do you route the coax cable from the antenna into the coach? Do you have to drill a hole in the roof or do you route it to a window.
Thanks for the info.
Les

Hi Les,
If you're asking about routing the WFR Boost into the motorhome ... we already had a batwing antenna with an RG5 (cable wire) TV connection through the roof, so I just dropped the Cat5 connector that ties to the WFR Boost through the same rubber boot and hole. The WFR Boost does come with a grommet if you want to make a new hole in the roof, but I really didn't want to do that, and the opening for the existing RG5 wire had enough room for the Cat5. I just made sure to reseal the boot/opening with Dicor Sealant and we haven't had any leaks.

Just download FOXFI, do a google to read about it. It's free with money back(OH Wait it's FREE). Works 1g 3g 4g uses your phone DATA(I've used it months at a time just watch your usage or it can get $$$$$. With moderate use on two computers we run at max 3-4 gig. EZ to setup, like one screen and it's just a couple lines and it is secure with a logon ID like you router at the sticks.

We have android phones and there is an app for it that allows you to tether your phone via USB cable to your laptop and use your cellphone as a wired hotspot for free with no extra phone charges. There is another app that allows you to wirelessly connect for free to your tablet or laptop via bluetooth. Both work great for us and we almost never worry about a CG wifi signal as long as we have cell service. Now if you are bold and want to "root" your android phone, then you can make your phone a wireless hotspot again for free. The wired works just fine for us at the moment.

You can install PDANet with FoxFi (wireless hotspot), without rooting your Android Phone. Search for PDANet in the Google Play store (from June Fabrics) and install it. You can then purchase a license key from their website
