Here in our campground in Florida we have 90 folks regularly using the WiFi system for email and general internet usage with very few problems.

However we have 2 users with computers that seemly will not connect to the WIFi system, but do connect to their GMail email accounts and they can use the internet.

Both computers show a small window stating "there is no validation certificate for this computer on this network." The small computer icon shows that there is no connection.

But yet both computers will connect as described above.

The only thing that I can find that sets these computers apart from the others is that they are both Dell laptops and are owned and used by Canadian's.

Would anyone have an answer and a fix (if we need one)??

Ted

I am no firewall guy, but it sounds as if the security software (MS or other) is indeed allowing a connection to WiFi otherwise they could not access GMail or perform general internet surfing. I have a limited understanding of certificates other than it is a piece of data exchanged between clients/servers and in SSL connections for security purposes. Thus the reason I believe it would be a firewall/security SW option. You may also check the security options for their browser (IE go to TOOLS then SECURITY). They may have a different security setting. Under the ADVANCED options make sure they have SSL 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 set. There are also other options there for certificates and signatures.

I located the root cause...

The Windows Wireless Configuration manager was configured to allow a IEEE network connection which looks for a authentication certificate. Turning this OFF fixed it.
