No, the User Name and PW for the router is different than what I use for the Mobley hotspot.

The only differences I can think of are some of the WFR are newer units, or there are differences in the Mobleys that prevent them from working.

Dennis....I know you've tried 3 USB cables unsuccessfully, but it might be worth buying the USB cable I'm using just to make sure. I read on another thread that one fellow tried 10 cables until he found one that worked. The USB cable was only $5 on Amazon HERE.

I'm happy to report that the WiFiRanger technical staff has been able to resolve the issues that were preventing DennisZ's Ranger from being able to tether his Mobley.

The problems arose because of the limitations of the older Go1 router and should not be of concern to owners of Go2 and GoAC models. Other Go1 owners who wish to tether Mobley devices are encouraged to consider upgrading their routers or using wifi to connect to the Ranger rather than a physical tether.

I want to thank Joel and the WFR folks for getting this fixed for me, it's now working great.

I just bought my GoAC a month ago and still am unable to tether, I will keep trying though. At this point I already have another type of hot spot ordered just because I am tired of dealing with it.

I'm truly sorry you haven't been able to get it to work. There shouldn't be an issue with the GoAC since quite a few others have been able to successfully get it to tether with a Mobley.

Let's start from the beginning:

1. Set the Ranger to Advanced mode
2. In the Advanced Tab of the Ranger's Control Panel set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
3. On the setup tab, drop the cellular gear down
4.There is a "USB Mode" dropdown, set this to ttyUSB1 (Try each one until it works but start with this setting )

If this still doesn't work, please PM me the ID number of your GoAC and we'll take a look at it remotely. There's always the possibility that there is something wrong with your particular device.

Joel

I'm puzzled, this is a duplicate of a post you made and to which I've already responded. Was this a form glitch?

Ok...looks like no one needed my screen captures, and detailed description.

Oh well,

David:

Thanks for providing so much assistance to other WiFiRanger users. Now that DennisZ has his Mobley tethered, the only person in this thread still needing help is, I believe, Retired_Helo_Pilot and I'm still waiting for his response to my last post.

To summarize, a Mobley device can easily be tethered to a WiFiRanger Go as long as it's not the original "Go1" device. That router simply does not have enough internal resources to support tethering.

For all newer Go routers all that should be necessary is that the user manually set the Ranger's IP address to the Google DNS servers or any other he wishes. That's all that should have to be done.

I did a little more testing this morning. All of my setting were correct after verifying with all the posts. My problem has always been one of two things. Either it will not tether at all or like this morning, it will only tether for about 5 seconds and then it goes through the connection process again several times and then will just eventually time out and not connect anymore. Hopefully all of that makes sense.

And Phochief, everyone appreciates things like that but if most are like me, there is no like button as on Facebook so I usually try not to clog up a thread with the thanks, otherwise we would never find anything.

Thanks for the response. Please PM me the ID of your Ranger and I'll try to get someone to look at it while it is online. Please continue to keep it online via wifi with the USB cable still in place. It may take a while for me to get someone senior to look at it, but I promise we will.
