A couple of years ago I upgraded the 2 TVs in my 2002 PaceArrow with 32 inch LCDs. While installing the front TV I added a HDMI cable for my laptop. At that time I was running Windows XP on my laptop and it was great to watch movies saved on the laptop. This yaer I upgraded my laptop to Windows 7. Then the following happened.
On a recent long trip I found that with Windows 7 you can not get audio on the HDMI cable. I checked and all of the "Drivers" are correct on the laptop, but still no audio.
Has anyone else ran into this problem? And if so how did you get around it?
Worse case senerio is I will have to go back in and run an audio line to the speaker output plugs, but hope there is an easier way.
Thanks
Frank

mine works. I use an hdmi cable to connect my monitor (with built in speakers) to my workstation. It was tricky as hell, but the sound does work thru the hdmi cable.
The trick had to do with the default sound device, the hdmi output uses a different "sound board" than the builtin audio.

Thanks

It should be in the sound control panel. There should be a separate device for "digital audio HDMI"
I've found in a couple of upgrades, it did not install. I had to go to the manufacturers website and download and install the correct display driver, then it showed up. The ones I've seen, it was part of the display driver, not the sound driver.
Once it's there, it has to be set as the default device.
I also found on the web a freeware audio switcher that sits in the taskbar and can switch from hdmi to the other audio output (headphones in my case, possibly the builtin speakers in yours.)

Sierrapoms,
I have a Toshiba Laptop running Widows 7 Home and I have not problem with audio or video hooked up to a 36" Panasonic LCD.
Me thinks it is the drivers for your setup.
I wish I could offer some good advice other than good luck.

It isn't Windows, but can be a hardware capability problem. Some don't send audio to the HDMI port.

Thank you all for your input.
It ended uop being a graphics driver that needed to be updated.
I was working on the audio end of it, but the HDMI cable runs off the graphics side.
Thanks
Frank
