When you click on the Start button and then All Programs you will be able to scan to the list of folders available. Go to Windows Live folder and open that. You should see Windows Live Mail there. When you click on that it should take you right into your mail setup.

Thanks I got it, but done something wrong with the POP3 it don't like how I added it. I also need to copy the addy from the desktop, but cannot do that either. I used to do a export but it will not let me burn it to disk. I know just enought to screw it up very good.

After I loaded W7, I didn't like the limitations of Live Mail, so I went to Mozilla and downloaded Thunderbird. It's fantastic, (they've got all the bugs out now)and if you've used the transfer wizard to migrate files from your old machine to the new one, it will search your new computer for email set-up info and automatically grab your old settings, address book and all your email folders. You don't need to do any of it manually. Hope this might help....

I am using Thunderbird also.
It's wizard was the only way I could figure out to transfer my old emails and address book to Vista on my new laptop from my old Windows xp laptop.
I could export the stuff via the old Outlook Express email client but couldn't import the resulting file into Windows Mail.
I installed Thunderbird on the old laptop and it automatically grabbed everything. Then I was able to move the proper T-bird files to the new laptop and I was all set.

There was probably some way to do it using the Windows programs but I sure couldn't figure it out. You would think with all of the talent and smart guys on board at Microsoft they would be able to make it as simple as the T-bird guys did.

I got the T-bird mail also and can't get it to send or receive. I am using it with embarqmail. I have changed to POP3 embarqmail.com and SMTP embarqmail.com. I also tired it with just the POP3 and SMTP. I got something wrong but don't know what it is.

This is the way mine looks. Your specifics will be different of course but this is the format. You should be able to get the outgoing server port # from embarg if it is not the default. Mine is not the default as you can see.

pop.csi.com
port 110 (default)

smtp.csi.com
port 587 (not the default)
user name myhandle@compuserve.com

You don't show a period between pop3 and embarq so I am not sure if you are using the complete command on the pop3 3 line but it should read pop3.embarq.com The same for the smtp line.

I use web-mail for my E-mail.. Some years ago I got "Security feaver" no, I was not paranoid, I ticked off a bunch of hackers and they really did try to get me.

Web mail is way safer this way plus since the mail is on the ISP's server I don't have to worry about attached mal-ware and such.. It's all filtered before I see it, plus they do fairly good spam filtering too.

That said.. If I were to use client mail I too would be giving Microsoft the Bird.. Thunderbird that is... IT's a very good program for E-mail.. I use it for Usenet.

I'm told it's not as good at Usenet.. but it does the job.

I finally got it today !!! I was using POP3.embarqmail.com and SMTP.embarqmail. It was suppose to be pop.embarqmail and smtp.embarqmail.com. I found where Century Link had a step by step instructions for us that are not too computer savy. I will remember this for a day or two.
