I am glad it helped. You are getting some great advice from people on here I might want to warn you to be careful if you decide to go to a seperate email client ( LOL this is a test to see if you understand) Windows has morphed into something a lot different than your original vista software and laptops have had significant changes. My Laptop has 4 processors on the chip that runs it. I have a terabyte hard drive and quite a bit of memory devoted to just the display. ( actually I am a geek and it has leap technology which allows you to run your hands in the air above the laptop and control it. but that technology still has a way to go although I can play chess without ever touching the computer.) As the hardware and storage has increased capacity windows and grown larger and requires more resources. The newer software and that would include clients will also be larger and although it might be vista compliant it might run very slow and have problems.
I would strongly recommend you might want to call sbcglobal net they have some very good technical support people. Have them help you with your user name and password then change your email to that. Changing email addresses are a royal pain. I allowed myself a year to do that and my old address was an aol account which i can still access over the web. By going to sbcglobal net email address you are going to get access to a company that is going to be around for a long long long time and free support. When you have problems you can just call them and have someone that is familiar with your system and account walk you through the fixes.
