Is anyone using Window covers to block out the Sun & UV rays? Wife wants them, so were checking them out. When Mommy's happy, were all happy. Thanks for any help.

We have been using the Prompt Sunscreen for 2 months and can vouch for their quality of manufacture and ease of installing on windshield and side windows.

We have had window coverings on both of the motor homes we have full-timed in. They do a very good job of reducing solar gain inside the coach, and they give you privacy during the daytime. You can see out, but outsiders can't see in. At night, of course, the reverse is true.

One recommendation I have is to get those with snaps rather than twist-on fittings. Then wrap duct tape around the end of an awning hook, and you can use the hook to remove the snaps at the tops of the windows when it comes time to take them down. That way you only need to get out the ladder once.

Hi Ken and Liz,
We have been carrying the outside, snap-on windshield screens and very seldom used them. It's a hassle getting out the ladder to put them up and take them down, etc.
Last Jan. at the RV show in Quartzsite, we bought the RV Quick Shades that attach to the inside windshield with suction cups. We love them and use them all the time. Really cuts down on the heat. We can put them up in two minutes without leaving the motor home. In fact, most of the time you can have them down and rolled up before you wife can dump the tanks and disconnect the water. And still have time to drink a beer. They roll up and go into a bag and we lay them on the back of the couch while we are traveling so they are handy at our next destination.
You can check them out at www. RVquickshades.com. We bought the beige, 42" for about $69. They also have a nice ad in the March 2005 FMCA magazine.
Larry

P.S. We have a full set of outside snap-ons for sale at half price.

I have a new MH and have been interested in protecting the interior from UV and heat. Has anyone tried the tinting film that is put directly on the windows? It would seem that this sort of installation would eliminate the time and effort to take the temporary sun block systems on and off. I guess I would really like to get a clear UV tint that I could do myself. Has anyone found this type of window film? It seems there are colored tints that are readily available but I hope there is a supplier that has clear film.

I have a Prompt Sunscreen on my windshield only and it works real fine. The best part is there are no snaps, hooks or velcro. You just hook it on to one window framr and roll it across windshield from the ground(no ladders) and hook it on the other window frame. I usually go from passenger side to driver side. Note Windshield wipers have to be sticking out from windshield while doing roll out. After cover is in place I place styrofoam pieces (normally used for insulating pipes and can be bought a Wal-Mart) over wipers and a tennis ball under wiper arms to take tension off of blades. I am very pleased with this Sunscreen and recommend it highly.
