Winegard Antenna and Wind pixelation

Looking for some input prior to talking to the friendly antenna folks. We're getting a lot of pixelation, particularly when the wind is more or less perpendicular to the angle the antenna is pointed (DirecTV, BTW). Anyone else experienced this, and if so, how did it get explained or fixed? There are no trees, flags, etc. occurred in both Las Vegas, Quartzite, Dallas, and Northern Idaho, so it isn't angle to the satellite.

I suspect something is loose, but I have been up on top and tried moving the antenna gently...nothing appears loose. Wind speeds in Vegas were 25-40 mph, but today, the winds were generally less than 20 mph. Doesn't seem to affect the local channels as much as the channels above 200 on DirecTV.

Thanks.

You talking about the Travler antenna? I got one and have no problems in the wind. Is yours mounted directly to the roof or do you have the optional metal plate? I have the metal plate. Seems to me you're getting some flexing action from the wind.

Have to look, but I believe there is a plate...and yes it is the Traveller. Txfor the input.

Signal Strength OK?

You may want to make sure you have good (>90%) signal using the procedure I wrote in the thread Troubleshooting DirecTV Intermittent Signal Loss. If your signal is in the 70s, any little loss will cause it to pixelate.

You might check the screws that hold the LNB on the end of the arm. Mine got loose and this caused reception problems and wind sensitivity. All went away when I tightened those screws. I had my Sat Dish up in Forest City Iowa at the WIT GNR last week and it stayed aligned even thru a severe thunderstorm with 63 MPH peak gusts. Yes, I should have put the dish down but I forgot to, it survived un-scathed.

I'll check the screws, but based upon the other thread, sounds like I have a second feed arm replacement in my future. These things seem awfully fragile, as I did nothing to the first fee arm, and I haven't bumped this one either.
