I have to upgrade/update our roof mount single Lnb Wingard and I am looking at the Winegard Carryout Automatic OR VuQube instead of a roof mount. Which is the best way to go?
Thanks,
rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

I believe that the primary difference is that the Winegard requires a separate 12v source and that the VuCube gets its voltage from the satellite receiver. Other than that I don't believe that there is a difference.
I can tell you about the Winegard Carryout, because I have one. It is programmable for either the DISH network or DirecTV Network. It comes with the DirectTV dip switch settings. It requires a screw driver to take the dome off and reset the dip switches for any of the DISH Satellites - Eastern or Western Hemisphere. Mine is programmed for satellites 110, 119, and 129.
Please keep in mind that at the present time there is not a dome satellite made that receives more than one satellite signal at a time.
I like the portability of the Carryout. It has kept me receiving the Food Network (DW's idea, not mine) ad therefore keeps her happy and in turn me happy, when we have been in situations under trees that would have hindered any roof top system.
I purchased a separate converter and it is plugged into my basement 110v plug in my electrical compartment next to the RF input boxes. I have 50 feet of power cord along with 50 feet of coax. I only purchased a 40 foot chain to secure the carryout to the Electric bay using padlocks. It only keeps the honest people from walking away with it.
There are ladder mounts available for both the Carryout and the VuCube. The Carryout one cost around $200. I don't know what the VuCube ladder mount costs. Many of the dealers have a special going on the Carryout that will include the little tripod, although a tripod is not necessary.
Good luck.

I am thing about getting a carry-out. The roof mount moves to much in the wind. Trees will stop any signal and the carry out can be moved around to get away from the trees.

We are thinking carryout with ladder mount. Looking at the pay as you go network also. On line for the carry out under $700.00 and Ladder mount under $150.00. You have to check many sites, some free shipping.

I just read an article that Dish Network is going to offer a rebranded Vucube for around $350.
