Have a D-100 tuner and in the setup menu it only highlights the slim round dishes not the 3 LNB ovals that kneed, any solutions.

Go into the receiver setup and select 18" round dish. Since all you need it the 101 satellite for all of the DTV SD programming this is all you need to setup.

It does not "have to be" but oval 3-LNB will work as well. It sounded as though you were not able to make that setting work so you could have used the 18" round setting. What did DirecTV tell you to do to make the oval option light up?

Now if I answer that I would cheat many others out of the hours of fun I have had but I shall. Detach the dish from the receiver. Open the door and push the red reset button. Wait for the 771 code to come up. Push the retest icon. All the options for dishes are now highlighted. Choose #2, the 3 LNB oval. Push retest and then continue.

This took 30 minutes and she stayed on the line the whole time.

Forest...Is that 3 LNB oval setting for the 101/110/119 or the 99/101/102.8?

101, 110, 119. There's really something very close to nothing on 110 and 119 but a few markets still broadcast the local Network programming on 110 (or 119) and is the only reason anyone would have any use for this setting. 99 and 103 cannot be received by any dome from any manufacturer.
