I have a 2006 Newmar with a Winegard dome, in motion, it works fine with DirecTV SD. We are replacing the dome with a Travler so that we can get HD programming. My mom has a manual dish, and I'd like to give the dome to her, as she doesn't care about HD. I'm at work and can't really get the model number on the dome, but would it be likely that the dome would work with her DVR?

If the dome can only get one satellite at a time you may have trouble watching one channel while recording another if both channels use different satellite. If you're just recording and not watching there should be no problem.

So, if she's watching TV and wants to records something else, that may not work? But the record function should be fine? I think mostly she records when she's not at home, or stuff that comes on later at night, so sounds like it will work for her. Thanks so much.

Yep, I think you've got it. Check your dome when you can and see how many coax lines are coming from it and how many coax connections are present at the dish.

Good luck...

Run two cables from the Dome to her receiver and then she can record one while watching another any time.

There should be no problem recording and watching as long as both channels are on the same satellite. Both Dish and Direct TV use multiple satellites for programing so some channels are broadcast from one satellite and some channels on another. As far as I know most domes only receive one sat at a time.
