winegard elevation finder

Hello to all. I believe I have a Winegard DM-4000 Elevation Sensor. I show s a ER code when I try to find the elevation number. A new one is around $100 dollars and I have not even used the dish once. Should I replace or is there a better choice or option. Thank you for your help.

Mine did the same ( er code ) a few years ago. It could be the battery inside. Mine didn't have one as it was hard wired. I use this chart

It works every time.

Back when I had one I had to reset it once by unplugging it from power for thirty seconds or so.
The next time it happened a couple of years later I had to buy a new one. That lasted until I removed it when the Traveler Sk3005 was installed.

Your elevation sensor is defective and should be replaced. If the sensor is hardwired it must be a filtered 12vdc supply. If you get a new sensor use it with 9V Battery option only. The Battery will last for aprox. 80hrs under normal use. This is a long time since you use the sensor only a few minutes during Antenna setup.
