Winegard Mini Max, seeking feedback

Our old Kingdome has given up. We use Direct TV and have considered the Winegard Trav'lr but have decided not to spend that much for the following reasons:

1. we are not needing HD in the motorhome....very satisfied with SD viewing.

2. other than the problem of the Kingdome failing to find/keep the signal, we've had no problems with rain fade or getting a good signal anywhere we've traveled when it was working better.

So, the Winegard Mini Max dome is the likely choice. Reviews I've read (if they are honest) are positive. However, I seem to remember reading that the satellite TV providers may be changing birds that would make the domes obsolete. So, is there anyone who can verify (other than pure speculation) sound reasons for rejecting the Mini Max (or any dome antenna)?
