Winegard Pathway X2 Problems?
Hi Y'all,
I was wondering if anyone who has a Winegard Pathway X2 Satellite Dish has noticed that it seems to be constantly looking for the satellites. Even with the receiver and the TV turned off we have noticed the dish will start making its whirling noises looking left, right, up and down about every 60 minutes. Sometimes it is a short burst, other times it seems to go through its entire locating sequence. It is very disturbing at night, and I worry my neighbors in the next campsite may be hearing it also.
Anyone else hearing it looking for the birds at night?

This is normal operation for most automatic Winegard antennas. The way to stop it is don't turn off the receiver, just the TV. I never turn off the receiver with either my Winegard Road Trip dome or the Pathway X2. I just turn off the TV and the antennas remain quiet all night. Also make sure you have the daily automatic update feature in the receiver menu set to work when you will be watching TV. That way you can override it. If it is set to happen during the middle of the night, it will cause the antennas to start "hunting" when the receiver shuts down to do the update.

Thanks lllkrob. We tried your suggestion last night , how ever it was raining all night and we had windows shut and the air conditioner on, so we didn't hear anything. Will try it again tonight.
I did notice the receiver was off or in sleep mode, this morning, even though we left it on last night per your suggestion. Seems it goes into sleep mode automatically.
Thanks again

Two things on your receiver settings. In the receiver menu find the preferences section. In that section is a setting to set the receiver to never shut down during inactivity. Normally it is set to turn off after 4 hours. Second, as I said earlier, set the update schedule to occur when you are watching TV so you can override it and prevent the receiver shut down, unfortunately there is no setting to cancel the update permanently.

Good information....Will the X2 automatically update? We have had ours 2 weeks, first week all seemed to go well, this past weekend apparently trees were a problem as it would only grab one satellite...

The updates have nothing to do with the Pathway X2, they apply to the DISH Network receiver settings.
