Winegard Traveler..Direct to Dish problems
I recently converted my Winegard Traveler from Direct to Dish. I ordered the parts kit of reflector and LNB from Winegard. And the DPH 42 Module and node from Amazon.
The Winegard control box reflects that I am locked on 119...110....and 129 ( all show the * Winegard says that means the dish is properly aimed and locked on the satellites.)
Inside I am getting 119 and I think I am also getting 110 in SD only. Photo of data is shown below.
At a rally a couple of days ago, the guy said I might not have the correct LNB and reflector from Dish. His comment was that the Hopper 3 is different and I that might be my problem. I don’t remember what I told Dish when I ordered the kit so I don’t know.
I am wondering if that could be my problem, and if so how can I verify that is my problem? Secondly, do you have any other thoughts or recommendations.
All recommendations are appreciated.

Yes, but it's not a measure of signal strength. I suspect that you're getting a weak signal from 129.
Remember that DISH uses two sets of satellites: Western Arc (110, 119, 129) and the Eastern Arc (61.5, 72.7, 77). Depending on where you are, the Western Arc sats used by your Winegard Travler may be difficult or impossible to acquire. Here's a rough map of DISH sats.

Almost all of DISH's HD programming is on sat 129. So if you're not getting a good signal from 129, then it's no surprise that you have no HD.

Probably not. A stock (or converted in your case) DISH Winegard Travler uses the 1000.2 DPP (Dish Pro Plus) dish which works with the DPH42 switch.
Your "problem" appears to be an issue with the DPH42 switch where a sat like 129 will not show up after moving. Myself and others have found that sat 110 regularly disappears each time we move to a new location.
Here's the fix that has worked for us: Hopper Check Switch with Nuclear Option.

Thank you for your responses.
1. I don’t think location is a problem. In my house in Oklahoma I get all three satellites at 50 signal strength. The photos were taken 90 miles from home in central Oklahoma.
2. I have tried the nuclear option ( I used the RV Senior site for my wiring guides) it had no change.
My thoughts.....
1. I wrench tightened the coax wires to the Winegard ports. Two of the three snugged tight, one turned many times and would not snugg. Maybe twisted the connector inside the Winegard.
2. I had ordered new coax cables, my length was wrong...two ports have new coax, one is a used cable. It tested good with a multimeter
3. Is it possible to test signals at each point in the system with a multimeter or other method?

OP in your first post you said you bought the "node" from Amazon. The DPH 42 does not use a node it uses a Hybrid Solo Hub. Did you mean you bought a Solo Hub or did you really install a node? If a node that could be your problem.

If you are using a hopper and your dish LNB is not HD then you need the 211z Wally

Not sure if it makes a difference but I have the Solo Hub off off the power inserter and not the top port of the DPH-42 Switch. Using Port 1 is what the manual says to use for the first receiver.

DGBPokes, here is the link to techwriter's drawing. I just installed the hopper3 setup. Solo Hub connects to the receiver side of the power inserter as mentioned above.

That is my point, DGBPokes has the Solo Hub connected to Port 2 of the DPH-42 Switch and the power inserter is not inline with the signal path.

The "To Switch" plug should connect to the DPH42.
The "To Receiver" plug should connect to your H3 (via your Node).
Like so . . .

I did the same conversion on my 2014 Entegra Anthem and had a similar problem. Turned out Direct SWM setup has a powered module and splitter between the antenna and receiver. I called Entegra support, found out the location (basement between the framerails), bypassed the powered module and splitter and everything worked as it should
