I can't figure out why it is doing this. We broke the handle off ages ago, and I finally bought new parts. It isn't the biggest deal in the world, since we usually use our DirecTV. However, I'd like things to be put together properly. I put the replacement parts back in per the manual, but no matter what I do, I can't get the directional handle to be flush with the ceiling plate, on the ceiling.

Ideas?

It's been a l o n g time, but... That rotation knob is held flush to the ceiling by a spring that sits between the knob and the crank handle. Can't tell if it's there or not?

The spring IS in there. Sorry for the bad picture (used my cell phone), but it is in there. It's not that the part is falling down-but rather I can't push it up any further.

Just quessing as I think I have to do this to my. Don't you pull down on the rotation knob and rotate until it finds a slot and then it goes up flush. I think mine has to be in a certain direction so the antenna is parked correctly on the roof.

Cut off a portion of the tube that extends into the base plate. Roofs have varying thickness, thus different tube length requirements.

Okay, great! That's exactly what I was tempted to do, but I was afraid that would mess something up. The manual never mentioned how it could be 'cut to fit' so I assumed it was the proper size. Hopefully that will fix her right up. Thanks!

I just installed a new winegard antenna. It came with good detailed instructions on how to fit the shaft and crank tube parts. Shaft should hang below ceiling 1.5 inches. Insert tube on shaft and measure the distance from ceiling to top edge of rotater plate. Cut the same amount off top of tube. There will be a small space between top of crank and plate to allow for rotation space when you pull down the direction plate. It looks like yours is okay, can't tell real close. Good luck. Call Winegard Cust. Serv., they are very helpful.
