Winnebago\Itasca Theater Sound

Hi,

My new to me Itasca Latitude has a Theater Sound System.

I will be replacing the TV tomorrow and I am thinking should I try to reuse the Theater system.

Any thoughts?

My Samsung TV I installed only had an Optical connection for audio out. No way to hook up to the existing original surround sound unit. I bought a new surround system / CD player with an Optical connection.

Look at the TV you bought to see what audio out connections it has.

Hi UFO Pilot,

I have not bought one yet. I will get one at Walmart tomorrow or use a 40" TCL one I have in my basement. It depends what Walmart have available.

The TCL one would a good fit.

Did you buy a surround system and not use the speakers but reuse the stock one built in to the coach? Or did the system you purchase not have speakers?

It came with speaker which donated to Goodwill. I used the factory installed ones. There is a big speaker in the bottom of my TV cabinet that I assume is a sub woofer.

Thanks UFO Pilot,

My next trick is trying to secure the TV in place.

That is why I installed mine the way I did. 32" TV is plenty big for us in the MH and we gained a lot of storage.

We own an Itasca with surround sound. We installed a flat screen TV and left the system hooked up. My husband loves it! Little loud for me but it works.

Keep the surround sound. It's like listening in a theatre.

Hi UFO Pilot,

When you say you gained storage did you do something with the existing tv cabinet to gain extra storage?

I definitely intend to keep the speakers, not sure yet if I will to upgrade the components.

I installed 3 shelves and finished off the inside of the cabinet. I thought I had pics but can't seem to find them.

We kept the cab radio connected to the theater sound. It's on the list to figure out how it's all worked together to be able to have an updated receiver and still use the cab radio with the speakers.

Until then we use a smaller vizio and built a cabinet so it fits in the spot where the gigantic CRT was. The small subwoofer is behind the passenger seat.

Some day we will redo the cabinet so it doesn't take up so much room. Click image for larger version

Did you put the shelves behind the TV?
