Did a search but did not see if anyone has used a wireless phone jack to connect their home phone to their RV satellite receiver. Our RV is housed 100 feet away from the house.

After not using the RV/receiver for a while, we have to call DirecTV because Ext 721 shows on the screen.

Is there a downside to doing this? A page on the DirecTV.com site says "If your permanent residence account lists more than one receiver and one of these is located in your vehicle, you will no longer be able to mirror the services......we will need to charge you the full monthly programming package price for this additional receiver instead of the $4.99 mirroring fee you may be paying currently"

We have 4 receivers listed for the residence and the "bedroom" receiver is in the RV now and DirecTV knows this because I have had to make a call to them over the years to get a picture and they want to know the receiver and card number in the RV.

I use a wireless phone jack in the house because their isn't a jack near the Directv receiver. I think it actually uses the AC wiring as opposed to real wireless. Got it at Home Depot pretty reasonable. Bob

There are RF telephone extenders available, however, I don't think they use the telephone line to do the updates. I am pretty sure that they come from the satellite. I bring mine into the house and try it before trips. If it has lost the programming I refresh it using the DirecTV WEB site. Seems to hold the programming a lot longer recently.

You can reset a receiver at directv.com . No phone call needed.

So what's wrong with calling DirecTV? It's all automatic, entering a couple digit's via the phone call makes it easy to reset the receiver. This has happened a couple of times when taking to the road after being out of service awhile. A quick cell phone call to the 800# had our receiver reset in less then 5 minutes.

How do you reset your receiver on directv.com? I looked on their website and can't figure out how to do it.

Thanks

Do you have the details for automatically resetting the receiver via phone? I haven't been able to do it without talking to a rep. If there's a way to do it via the automated switchboard, that would really help!

Go to http://www.directv.com and log into your account, if you don't have an On-Line Account, create one now. On the My Account page under Upgrade Equipment, click on Troubleshooting. On the next screen, click on Refresh Your Services, on the next screen click on the box for the receiver you want to refresh, then click on Refresh Services in lower right corner
