Has anyone had any luck configuring a wireless router or bridge to work with free wifi in a park to serve broadband to wired devices or setup a RV hot spot? I have seen the EVDO routers but don't see why I would want to spend $70 per month for a service I would need 10-15 days per year.

I have hooked up a router that I can insert a Sprint card or connect to a WI FI Site. I can then connect ethernet cables to a PC or I can use the router as a WI-FI access point to use a wireless card on a laptop.

Check out a Linksys Wireless G Travel router. Model number is WTR54GS. Might be just what you are looking for.

Here's a link:

Mooneypaul - When yousay you connect to a wifi site, do you mean you are connecting to a parks (or someone elses) WAP or Hotspot? Do you have a make/model?

Thx

You can configure things various ways. I use the router connected to a cable modem when I am camped long term in FLA for the winter. When mobile, I insert my Sprint card into the router. I can then use the laptop WIFI to get to the router. Or you can use the router to connect to the park's WI FI and then "share" the connection inside the MH. Here is the one that I use:

I currently operate with an AT+T air card in my computer direct connect to a Wilson Trucker antenna on the roof. I would like to extend my operating range to coach-wide using a router, etc. My concern is in leaving the security of the cellular band and entering the Wi-fi band for the wireless link from computer to router. No reason to pay extra for security offered by air card and be vulnerable over the short link within coach. Thanks.
