With all the new wireless tv systems available now, will this present problems when they become common in RV usage? It seems to me that when using wireless systems that use UHF tv controllers in cramped RV parks we may be switching our neighbors channels, turning systems on/off, etc, etc, and vice/versa?

Am I missing something?

All of the wireless devices used today are digital. The days of opening your neighbor's garage door are pretty much over. The simplest RF device can have thousands of potential digital codes; the chances of getting one that is the same as your neighbor in an RV park aren't all that high. However, many of these devices do run on the same 2.4GHz band and crosstalk from other devices is not impossible. That doesn't mean that one device will cause another to operate, but, rather, that it might prevent operation.

What interests me is all of my remote controllers operate all of my receivers, 211k's, 211z's, Hopper, all Joeys, old and new one's. I have given spare remotes to friends., Of course the TV, and other input and output devices, non Dish, have to be programmed for the remotes. Only difference with the remotes are the IR, Line of sight, not thru the wall digitals, and the UHF thru the wall types, just a different frequency, all digitals.

Now with Hopper systems using all UHF Remotes, I think, and other UHF remotes available it's possible to control any Dish receiver from outside the RV or from another room. I probably have a half dozen remotes, some 10 years old and they all work on all my Dish receivers. Don't know how the new wireless Dish systems work but I bet the remote controllers still control the receivers the same? Maybe not? Interesting. What about Condo's, apartments, etc? I bet I could stand outside your RV and change your channel with my Remote, if were cose enough I could change it from inside my RV.

Just wondering where this wireless stuff is going.

Update on wireless satellite systems interfering, cross talk, with other nearby RV systems. I just ordered the wireless Hopper system for our RV and this question was addressed with Dish support. The Hopper and Joey systems, unlike the 211 and older receivers, are designed to comply with a no interference rule. All remotes and wireless systems are uniquely coded to each other by a Sync system, so I'm told. FWIW. I was wrong.

Ya'll can now rest easy. Like Docj said, you can't open my garage door anymore.

We installed Airport Express an Apple TV to view all our DVD's which are saved on an external hard drive. The DVD's can only be viewed on our system and can't be viewed by others. It is better then taking a box full of DVD's on a trip.

Each remote is "paired" with a device (like a Hopper or Joey).

I have two Apple TVs and if I don't pair the Apple TV remotes, then each remote will control both Apple TVs.

I strongly suspect that sooner or later we will find ourselves watching our neighbor's TV.

In some parks I will let people use my house router like a repeater.. I also give them access codes for my DVR's so they can watch recorded over the air TV which I have recorded,, if that is they wish to.
