The Zantrex 2000 on my Alpine failed last year. I took it out and sent it to a company in Apple Valley, Ca to have it repaired. They ended up replacing a circuit board in the unit and send the bad board back to me. An electronic technician at my work looked at the bad board and quickly found a bad soldier joint that was determined to be the problem.

Last month the Zantrex failed again. I'm going to install my spare circuit board and see if it works. I would love to get my hands on a service manual especially if swapping the board doesn't fix it.

I have wondered if vibrations from being located above the rear axle could contribute to the failures. Once I get it repaired I may mount it in a way to minimize vibrations.

For now I have connected the IN and OUT 120v wires together to bypass it and use a battery charger when I stop.

Uh, X, not Z.. It's Xantrex, not Zanix (opps, you might need some of the latter though if the former looses it's mind)

Ok, that's mostly a joke.

now the serious part.

What I quoted.. When My Xantrex lost it's mind and had to be shipped back to Washington under warranty (By the way folks after I spend SEVEN hours on the phone with some script heads in India on a completly different product.. You can not imagine how refreshiing it was to call Xantrex customer support and have a GENUINE American answer the phone and get me my RMA number in a matter of minutes.. The total call was about 15 mintues long and resulted in not only the RMA and other info I needed to ship it back but some hints and tips on improving the install when the replacement arrived)

That is exactly what I did.. Hook the IN and OUT wires together and switched on a different charger.

The customer service guy at Xantrex is a Canadian and his last name is Indian (from India). But you're right it is refreshing to speak with him with his proper elocution. Knows his stuff, too.

Read your post with interest. We have a 09 Alpine with an RS2000 inverter with serious problems. We're not too far from Apple Valley could you tell me the name of the company you went to.

Thank you.

Don & Ruth:

See this thread and my post. I believe she ships from Victorville. I recall her asking if I would prefer to pick it up (to save the 24 hours of shipping time it ended up taking).

Xantrex RS 2000 Pure Sine Wave Inverter Super Sale !

check this link, he has one of the cheapest prices I have seen. Cannot speak for the company or the quality of service. PPL Motorhomes does not seem to carry one. I'm not home otherwise I would sell it to you at my cost through my business. But I'm in the southeast.

I bought my RS 3000 from the company at the link that Monty posted above. I was afraid that my old unit would fail over a 3 day holiday with no 120 volt power available, so I need one fast. Although mine was under warranty, Xantrex was no help. I looked up a source on the web and found them. Service was fast, the product arrived in perfect shape, they were great for my transaction.

Where are you folks getting these serviced? I have a 2000 that according to the indian voice on the 800 #, they aren't fixing them, and won't even give the time of day. Someone must be doing out of factory repairs...

I had the same problem with my early 2004 vintage RV2500 - Xantrex wouldn't touch it and claimed they have no parts for that model. Lazydays RV had a source, however, and got it rebuilt for me. I also located a repair shop in Tampa that had parts for it in stock. But when they are all used up, the party will be over and it will be replace rather than repair. Worse, the newer models are not compatible with my remote display panel and my AGS system, so I would have to replace those as well.

Thanks, I'll call them and maybe post this question across a few of the RV sites and maybe get a good hit. It's sitting in a box in the garage so nothing critical (except it's dead). I looked around in there and have decided if I have no shop manuals I can only do damage. It's as much a computer as a brute force power supply.
