02 Kountry Star hot water heater ?

Have a Atwood hot water heater that is both electric and gas. Works great on gas but not on electricity. I know the element is got to be bad but I have the switch on the back of the unit off and the switch in the front off but the lite won't go off all the way. It is not as brite as it was. I just don't want to get shocked changing out the element. what do I check ?

IF you are taking about the RED Fault Light...that is only for propane failure on your 2002 model
Reset that Fault Light by turning GAS On/Off Switch OFF...wait 30 seconds...turn back ON if you want to heat via propane

If you are taking about an Indicator Light that shows if switch is on/off that is powered by Circuit Breaker

When working on the electric element/components ALWAYS OPEN the 120V AC Circuit Breaker (in main AC Panel---for Water Heater)

When working on the propane side of water heater ALWAYS PULL the 12V DC Fuse for the water heater (in DC Dist Panel) AND valve out the propane system IF disconnecting any propane lines.

Switch

Thank you Sir ! What could make the front electric switch stay dimly lit ? It was bright until I turned it off and now it is very dim.

Switch the ac circuit breaker for water heater off and see if that changes appearance of the switch light.
