I have purchased a TT, 2007 Gulfstream Conquest. It did not come with batteries but verified that the 12v system works by using a battery charger. When I plugged the TT into 120 V the only thing that seems to work is the microwave. I have no lights, heater, electric slide, etc. The outlets probably worked but did not verify this as it was late last night and -20 C. Any suggestions. Note: I do not have a battery on the system...does this matter?

Welcome to iRV2, we're really glad to have you here as a new member and are looking forward to reading your posts about your RVing experiences and adventures in your Gulfstream Conquest TT. You'll find a great bunch of folks on this site who are very knowledgeable of RVing, the rigs we use, and the places we go in them.

Put in a battery, I think you'll find that'll solve your problems. Some converters have a relay that's energized when connected to shore power and it removes the source of the trailer's 12 volt power from the converter to the battery. Then the converter replenishes the battery as current is used.

As you'll see, they're eager to help and share their knowledge and experiences with others.

Again, welcome to iRV2, we're glad you joined.

It's hard to believe that the dealer let the unit go off the lot without batteries and without them being hooked up and the entire 12/120 volt systems demonstrated and working!

Hebegb, welcome to iRV2.com. You have come to the right place for fun and great info concerning RVs and our lifestyle. Be sure to check out the Gulf Stream Owners section midway down the main forum. We are a group of fun loving RVers that like to help each other where we can so any questions you have feel free to ask. Let us know how the battery issue does; as stated, a good battery should fix the problem.

The reasoning behind no batteries - I bought it at an auction mart. Not sure the reasoning why it ended up there, but after purchase, I have realized that it is a brand new unit and I did get a pretty sweet deal. I was really looking at heading to our neighbours to the South (USA), but I did pretty good on this one. Because it is sooooo cold right now I think I will hold off until the spring before I buy the batteries. I do believe that this will solve the problem. I am going to test the converter this weekend with a electric meter, should prove it either way...Thanks for the info all.

Most convertors use a 12V battery for a filter before supplying power to the 12V side of the RV. Look here to hopefully find the service manual for your convertor.(you didn't specify brand)
