I just purchased a 1998 34" Alfa Gold 5th wheel and love it. However, I can not find the propane switch for the hot water heater. The switch under the lip of the bathroom sink appears to be the 110 amp. The dealer has not been able to help me and there is no manual.
Any information I can get would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

Roxie,
Welcome to iRV2, we're really glad to have you here as a new member and are looking forward to reading your posts about your RVing experiences and adventures. You'll find a great bunch of folks on this site who are very knowledgeable of RVing, the rigs we use, and the places we go in them.
As you'll see, they're eager to help and share their knowledge and experiences with others.
On units with DSI (Electric Ignition) there's usually either a wall switch or one mounted with the holding tank level gauge panel. Look around closely in the kitchen area, it shouldn't be too far from there.
Also, there should be some sort of lamp/light adjacent to the switch that'll indicate if the unit failed to light. On mine, which is located on the control panel, the light goes out when the water heater successfully lights.
Again, welcome to iRV2, we're glad you joined.

I don't have a Alfa but my hot water heater switch is on the cook stove vent hood. Art
I can't imagine a dealer walk through and he doesn't know where everything is.

Glad you found our site and hope it will be useful to you. Most of the time, the switch for the water heater is in the panel with the level gauges.
Good Luck...

Send an e-mail to info@alfaleisure.com, it will get to the right folks. The Alfa 5th. wheel factory is in Chino, California, been there and they are great folks to work with as far as service goes so I am sure they will help.

Roxie, welcome to our website and congratulations on the new rig. Have you found the switch yet? I am sure the mfg. can inform you as to where it is but at this time of year it might be awhile before you get a reply. If you are out camping I am sure a fellow RVer would be more than willing to help you find it. Most of love to help each other out. It would also be a way to show off your new rig as we also like to see others floor plans and decor. Good luck and have a merry Chritsmas.

Welcome Roxie to the IRV2 website, glad that your enjoying your Alpha Gold.
The only suggestion I have for your propane switch is that it possibly may be on the control panel, others on the board may have other suggestions, have a joyous Holiday. Ed.S

Mine works the same way. The switch is located on the front of the cabinet at the kitchen sink.
Welcome to IRV2! Let us know what you find out about your set up. I'm sure we would all like to know.

Wow! I am overwhelmed with all of your responses. Thank you so much. I don't know if I qualify as an RVer anymore. I used to have a motorhome, but have become stationary. I have a place on the Oregon coast where I keep my 5th wheel on a permanent basis. The downside is that I miss out on meeting people like all of you.
I had contacted the Alfa website and posed my question to them. I have not heard back, but it is the holiday season and I am certainly not working as much as usual either.
My control panel has my tank level indicators and the switch for my water pump, but not my hot water heater. I have an unidentified wall switch by the control panel, but it is a simple on / off switch (like a light switch), with no light that could come on. When I turn it on, nothing seems to happen, but it is difficult to know for sure because of different combinations that come into play when you don't have a manual.
I used my cooking vent last week end and did not see a hotwater switch there, but I also was looking for one and I may have missed it. I will take a better look. I will also take a closer look at the panel under my kitchen sink.
I am leaving to go back over to the coast on Saturday morning. I have contacted a service man in Newport and presumably he can help, since I suspect that perhaps an element of the hot water heater is burned out, because it gets warm but not hot when the 110 amp switch is turned on (or what I am assuming is the 110 am switch, because it is labeled as the water heater but has no light).
Again, thank you so much for your willingness to take the time to help out a stranger, and I will let you know what it ends up taking for me to get hot water.
I hope all of you have safe and happy holidays.
Roxie

Welcome Roxie. The switch for my water heater is in the bathroom, on my Airstream, so they are not always in the kitchen. Just look around, it might be somewhere else. Best wishes, Penny
