2003 Coleman Mach III A/C Fan screech
I was out shampooing the carpets in KC this morning and when I turned the rear A/C on, the fan screeched a little when it started. Then it screeched a little when it shut off.
The bearing is going out of the fan motor
Is replacement of that motor a major cost item or should I be looking at a new unit?
This rear A/C unit is the original air conditioner to the coach, now some 10+ years old. The front unit is newer, (2008) it is a 15,000 btu while the rear original unit is a 13.5 btu.
Any input is greatly appreciated.

The motor is easy enough to change out. That would be a less expensive way than a new unit.

The common fan motor that we sell is about $175 or so. Takes me about an hour or so to change out.
New 15K Coleman is around $750. I'd install the motor.

I had to change out the motors on both my front and rear unit, they were getting hard to turn and pulling to many amps. It cost approximately $300 in parts plus my time, cheaper than 1 unit would have been. If you shop with CW and are a Good Sam member they give a discount on repair parts.

FT: My rear A/C has always pulled more amps and it is 13.5 btu compared to my front one, so I know that motor has been bad/going bad since I bought the unit in 2011. I'm happy to know that's what causes it. It does cool 20-21 degrees below room air as its supposed to, but now that I know that fan motor is going out, should help with power consumption somewhat with a new fan.
How hard is it to replace that motor? Any tips or tricks to watch out for? How hard is the fan to pull off the shaft? How hard is it to access the motor/fan unit? :
My unit is a 13,500 btu ducted unit. Its the rear A/C unit. Rubber Roof.
I have a great fellow IRV2'r here, Whem2fish thats a great mechanic and he's gonna replace it for me.
Is there anything we need to watch out for when replacing it?
I have a bolt missing on that A/C Shroud on the rear A/C too. I know it is 11 years old and probably fragile shroud.
Thanks for any tips anyone has on motor/blower replacement

I am going to go with the motor replacement. You are waiting on info from a guy in Dallas?
I prefer to order the original OEM motor. I found one from Fasco for a few bucks less, but looked at the comments and I'm think its best to replace from the OEM for the 127 or 128 on the link listed above....
