2003 inverter question

Fleetwood excursion 39p
Have a question about factory inverter freedom model. The expected dc charge voltage is not there? Plugged into shore power inverter is on but it is not keeping batteries charged. Voltage at inverter output is 12.35 it should be 13.5 so is charger section reparable?
Central Florida east coast. Thanks in advance

The inverter is repairable but you may try taking the cover off once power (ac and dc) are disconnected and see if the fuses on the control boards are bad. If so, replace and retest. Good luck and keep us posted.

what model and what size? On my RS3000 xantrex I have to turn on the charger part of the inverter before it will charge
Turning on the inverter means nothing as far as battery charge goes

To check if charging is occurring measure the voltage at the batteries without charging active. Then enable charging. You should see about 1 volt increase with charging.

As asked earlier I assume your turning on the charger and not the inverter? check the main inline 300amp fuse.May be blown
this fuse is inline between main batterys and Inverter system

Turn off shore power.
Then disconnect the black (b-) on the Freedom.
This will allow a reset.
By the way, it requires Battery 12 Vdc to control the unit.
The AC is passed thru (on shore power or generator), and it is use only for the charger circuit. It is still the Battery voltage that powers everything.

your batterys could be stone dead and when you plug into SP it will still charge the batterys ;;so as long as the 300 amp fuse is good ;;its actually turned on ;;it should charge the batterys

Okay got the skinny from Fleetwood authorized repair center for my inverter. With shore power plugged in and on with charge selected output terminals should be at 14 volts dc. Floating amperage from trickle all the way to 100 amps. He walked me through troubleshooting. Removed cover discharged and tested fuse blown replaced and blew again. Most likely the charge controller board is bad. He spends winter here in Florida so as soon as he is relocated I will deliver it to him for repair. 200.00 to 400.00 repair. He also recomends I change to a pure sinewave inverter. He states the newer electronics get damaged by older type inverter wave pattern? Thanks for all the help

Another thing I was instructed. If you have to reset inverter undo shore power remove positive cable as it has less chance to damage the inverter. So says fleetwood tech support repair center.

Did you check the circuit breaker in the main panel ?
No fuse inside the Freedom 458. So don't bother taking apart.

Go to the unit, remote the B- (black) cable. (Freedom)
Remove the remote plug
Wait and reconnect.

Measure the voltage at the B +(Red) cable (Freedom)
