2004 Onan 7500 Genset

500 hours on it has been well maintained and never an issue. Recently we found it would run approx. 5 minutes then shut off. And was showing a code 24 error which is the temp sensor. We swapped that out. Now it will run when first started for quite a while around 20 minutes plus then shut down showing a code 33. It will restart immediately and then shut off in a lot less time. It is not getting hot. Any ideas?

Thanks

Yes both are good. I got a chance to speak to a customer service rep at Cummins/Onan. He said just due to the nature that it was running good had the obvious error 24 that now to have an error 33 is likely one of the wires to the sensor not getting good contact or an air bubble at the sensor. I guess this happens quite a but due to the way the sensor sits at the top of the elbow it's more common than one would think. As soon as we figure this out I will post the repair.

Thanks

I got the same generator as you. Mine done the same thing run 5 minutes shut down then crank right back up, displayed 24 code. I took it in to Cummins Ocala, they changed the temp sensor, problem solved.

Just to follow up on this issue in case others run into the same thing. Hopefully the problem has been found. The mechanic ended up draining and pressure refilled the anti-freeze. I have not run it yet but he claims he ran it for 3 hours no issues. The Onan rep has thought it could be an air bubble that work it's way out but this one apparently needed a little coaxing.
