2005 Pace Arrow Inteilitec EMS900
Does anyone have any experience with the following problem.
My 36D has the intelitec EMS900. When the coach is running I get a charge to both batteries. When the only Genset is running the EMS panel does its thing and then all lights on the panel come on. I turn on several appliances on and it shows the Amp use by number. I turn off the Genset and plug into shore power (50A) and the EMS panel does its thing and all the lights on the panel light up with the 50A light on. I can operate all of 110 appliances and the refer, overhead lights. After a few hours all the lights go dim and the Volts on the house batteries show 10 to 10.5 volts. I went to check the connections and they were so corroded that the ground fell off when I moved it to see if it was loose. I repaired the connections and replaced the house batteries with a good 12 volt so I could recharge the 6 volts and check them. I checked every fuse that I could find and none were bad. With the new battery I found that the problem appeared to be corrected. After three days on the road we were in a RV park and late in the evening we were watching TV and I thought that I was just getting tired and the lights were actually going dim. I checked the volts in the batteries and the chassis was at 12.65 and the house batteries were at about 9.98 volts. I checked to make sure that I flipped the Breaker on the supply line on the park side. It was on. Came back into the coach and started the engine and the batteries started to charge. This was enough to get through the weekend and get home.
Long story short – I am not getting the house batteries to charge with the genset or on shore power. Converter/charger bad? Anyone got some trouble shooting tips to isolate the problem?
I bought the coach used and of course there are no books or manuals. I have found a few on line and have ordered the books from Fleetwood. Does anyone have any suggestions for a General manual that might provide useful?

Dan, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and we look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences. I am sure you will enjoy the website and find it to be friendly and very informative.
It sounds as though your charging system has issues. You can check the house battery voltage before and after connecting to shore power or running the generator. You should see an increase if the charging system is working. Have you checked the fuses or circuit breaker on the converter/charger or inverter? Verify that you have 120 vac feeding the system and that you get about 13 + vdc out.
The EMS 900 will not have much direct influence on the recharging of the battery. It is to help prevent the tripping of the main breakers when the coach is plugged into less than a 50 amp service.

Thanks for the welcome! I am leaning to the converter/charger. I am not sure where it is located to check volts in and out. I have ordered the wiring diagrams but have not received them. I have checked all the fuses that I can find. They are in several locations. That does not include the Fact that I am in Portland and the couch is in Eugene for the month. That is about 110 miles away. If I replace the convert/charger do you have any recommendations for the replacement? I have an RV pad with a 50A hookup at the house. I keep the couch hooked up 90% of the time. I know that they make different systems that will exercise the batteries when stored but I have no idea where to start.
Thanks

You didn't mention the year of your coach, but odds are you have the WFCO converter/charger and it is prone to dying at about 3-4 years of age. It is quite common for 2003 and later Paces to have a dead house battery charging system. I don't know if a new WFCO will have the same short life or not. It's a decent charger while it lives, though. A good alternative would be a Progressive Dynamics 9260 or the 9160 with the Charge Wizard option.

Update on Converter/Charger problem.. I called Fleetwood, they stated that the converter was a WFCO 45. They also sent me a wiring diagram via email. the diagram showes the converter has a standard 110 plug and it is in the area of the Microwave. I have opened all to the covers and find nothing. Anyone know where that thing might be hiding?

The location of the converter depends on the floor plan. A friend's 2003 Pace has it under the Splendide washer in the bath area.

We have a 07 pace Arrow 38P. I've had to change out my converter twice. It was located in the bed room in the dresser mounted to the top. It would get so hot in there that I moved it to another location. Good luck.

This puts an end to the search. Found the converter. It is mounted on the floor inside the cabinets. It is between the sink and the cook top. You have to remove the Bottom drawer and move the heater vent pipes. I am amazed that it is in same area as the forward furnace. The heat pipes for the forward floor register travel on both sides. That exposes it to lots of heat. O-well. Thought about moving it to a better location but there is not many places for it to go. It is a WFCO 75, are they fixable or just disposable?

Mine was also a WFCO 75, I believe the heat got to it. I can imagine how hot yours is getting. I disposed of mine. At least you found it.
