Hi everyone, I'm new to this site, and rv'ing too.. Bought a 3120 sunseeker 2011 and had a question regarding my water heater. There doesn't seem to be a way of running the water heater off the electricity instead of propane. I'm probably just doing something wrong, does anyone know how to get around this problem.. Thanks!

On some models that is an option. You might want to call Forrest River and check.

I have a 2011 Shasta, also made by Forest River. It could be that your electric heating element has been damaged. I trashed mine the very first time I tried to heat water. All it takes is 30 seconds of power to the water heater when there is no water in the tank. If your water heater switch is like mine, it could have been easily turned on by mistake.

My MH was winterized when I picked it up. I wish that I had asked to have the water system flushed and the water heater checked before I left the dealer's lot. I read that pulling the red wire to the heating element is a good practice when winterizing, that way it is protected from accidental damage. Luckily, the electric elements are cheap and easy to replace.

We have a 2010 sunseeker and to use water heater with elec, there is a switch
Take cover off outside and you will see switch, make sure water heater has water in it

Okmunky, very helpful, from the external panel is there a simple on/off switch to go from electric to gas? Sounds like I have the same problem you did... If I switch from on to off, it goes gas no matter what..

Hi, the switch in my mh that was accidently turned on is on the control panel inside.

Actually, I can blame this one on Sena. Capuchins LOVE to turn on switches and push buttons. I have installed a flat wire mesh basket over the control panel and now access the switches using a pencil inserted thru the mesh. I am careful to not let her see me use the pencil because "monkey see, monkey do" is a reality. Plus, I try to keep all pencil shaped objects locked away.

I keep the electric element unplugged (red wire disconnected) so we don't burn out
another one.
