A single 30 amp supply is sufficient to run both AC units if you do not run other high amperage draw appliances such as the water heater or micro/conv oven. When you run the micro/conv turn off one AC until.

Actually that'll depend on what AC units you are running. The higher BTU models can draw 16A running (mine do) and heaven forbid if they both start at the same time - that starting draw is quite a bit higher.

Tom, that may be true_however, if your line voltage drops below 108VAC you are slowly harming the compressor motor. Low voltage = increased amperage draw = motor damage.

Low voltage would also apply to a 50 amp connection.

My point was there are lots and lots of 30 amp motorhomes home built with 2 AC units and they operate fine.

Then depending on the position of the switch the rear AC could be feed from the source available in the coach or from an extension cord plugged into a second source.
Trust me, Installing a double pole double throw switch woudl be making it more complex

I have a plug (or inlet), I have an outlet I have an extension cord

Plug to outlet--Original hookup, Rear A/C runs off house power (Generator or 50 amp shore power)

Plug to extension cord, to 20 amp park outlet and Rear A/c has it's own 20 amp line

It just don't get simpler than that, no way

NOTE I did not drop a hundred bucks on psrv.net but built my own

And you'd need a triple pole. You forgot the ground lead.. I do not

Thanks for your reply I am looking into making this mod because I cannot run both a/c units on 30 amp alone and so many times we are at dog shows and only have 30 amps available in the dead of summer.

Thank you again.

There is a thread very similar to this in the "General Discussion" forum. The thread title is "50 amp? or 20amp?"

As already stated, these adapters will not work on any GFI circuit. If used on two 30amp outlets where the two legs are on opposite phases then the EMS will function as a normal 50 amp source.

If the two 30amp legs are on the same phase, or circuit, then the EMS systems will detect the source as a 30amp source. THe EMS can be enhanced to avoid this and RV Wizard provides a discussion on the how.

Read the other thread for exhausting details on precautions and why, or how, this works.
