Thanks for all the inputs. It seems the consensus is 10 gauge wire is sufficient for 50 ft/30amps. As such the easiest and cheapest alternative for me is to get a 10 gauge 25 ft extension cord with male/female connectors for the 10% of times I can't get within 25 ft of the power source. Thanks again for the inputs, this forum is a wealth of information.
